Just watched the first episode. Loved it!

Stranger Things is an "ok" show. I'm a much bigger fan of 13 Reasons Why. Very very good. I tried to watch that show. 3 episodes in it just felt like some revenge porn, to me anyway. Suicidal people don't methodically record 28 hours of audio recordings, with humor. Couldn't stomach it. Can't figure out what other people see in it.

I was going to watch it, but I think it was you who informed me of why it was not a good show.

Let me specify.
I actually think 13 reasons why is not just a bad show, but should not even be on TV.
It idealizes suicide. It makes suicide an accomplishment, puts this ugly positive spin on it. It also normalizes suicide as a normal outcome or option for things that are sadly very common, though horrible, in a teenage life. Romanticising suicide is vulgar to the extreme.
Then, the show is aimed at that age group, those most vulnerable to suicide. Teens.
Criminal, imo.

Possible, but I don't recall actually mentioning my disgust with it to anyone except my husband. I have a terrible memory though, and could be wrong!

I love this fucking show. 4 eps in.

I imagine Stranger Things resonates more with the older people, those who remember the eighties; its movies and music.

There was a pretty big debate around the show for this reason. I agree.

Strange that they made it an 80's period piece!

I fully binged the entirety of s2, and spoiler, Dustin still doesn't get the girl despite his pearls.

LOL, poor Dustin. I laughed out loud every time he did that growl thing when mentioning his winning smile.

Funny thing is the Duffer Brothers are too young to be 80's kids. They were just 90's nerds (used lovingly ) playing D&D and loving the movies and TV of the 80s on VHS.
