Religious claims that get under your skin

RE: Religious claims that get under your skin
"God wouldn't say that."
At the age of five, Skagra decided emphatically that God did not exist.  This revelation tends to make most people in the universe who have it react in one of two ways - with relief or with despair.  Only Skagra responded to it by thinking, 'Wait a second.  That means there's a situation vacant.'

"God exists in way that is impossible to verify so don't look, really it does"

"Finally I am thetan free"

I love it when we ask for proof of something, and they just whip out their book of myths, as though that somehow would convince us of anything.

"You can't have morals without God"
"Atheists believe there is a God deep down"
"We can't have come from monkeys, monkeys still exist"
"It's Adam and Eve, not Adam and Steve!"
They don't even listen to what you have to say in response. Gah!

Asking for evidence of "God" is a strawman.

For me it's not necessarily any specific argument per se, but rather the apparent desperation to believe that so many theists I've met, particularly on this site, wear on their sleeves, sometimes almost like a badge of honour. That's not a proof of God's non-existence any more than ad populum... many people believe it therefore it's true... is a proof for it's existence, but nonetheless, call it 'ad populum desperatum' makes it very very hard to take it seriously when so many theists seemingly display a complete lack of self-awareness, willful or otherwise, when it comes to how psychology may be affecting their beliefs and all the mental double standards they're applying and hoops they are jumping through in order to protect, maintain, and argue their beliefs.
