I think the problem with a romantic emotional experience is that paying for it cancels that out.  I would find the experience less emotional and consider the girl less sweet knowing that as soon as my payment towards her ceases then the sweetness and emotion ends.

It would be like paying for "great friendship" from a guy who offers to laugh at your jokes and hang around with you as long as you pay him per hour. That doesn't really qualify for a great friend.

This is a myth. It is lack of regulation and education that causes spread of disease. Exploitation of sex is not a class issue anymore than use of opiates is a class issue. Exploitation of sex is a profit issue, not a class issue.

You can spread STDs even in marriage too. What can reduce unsafe conditions is REGULATION, and EDUCATION, and removing the stigma.

Unregulated exploitation happens in labor too.  I think we should simply make prostitution legal, keep the unregulated street prostitution illegal, and provide safe conditions for the legal prostitutes. I don't think anyone is or should advocate sex slavery anymore than we should advocate keeping lead in paint.

Which bit of what I wrote is a myth?

Are you ready for the fire? We are firemen. WE ARE FIREMEN! The heat doesn’t bother us. We live in the heat. We train in the heat. It tells us that we’re ready, we’re at home, we’re where we’re supposed to be. Flames don’t intimidate us. What do we do? We control the flame. We control them. We move the flames where we want to. And then we extinguish them.

Impersonation is treason.

But the "emotional experience" would be completely fake. These women would be pretending to care and pretending to have genuine interest in you to get your money.

I don't see how that can fulfill any sort of emotional human need when you know it's not real, but that's just me I guess.

I'll also add that prostitution relies on women who have had some sort of traumatic experience, mental illness, or desperate need for money.

Thats why prostitution is inherently exploitive. You seldom find a well put together, mentally healthy, ducks in a row type person who chooses to have sex for money.

So no, I don't think it's realistic.
"Of course, everyone will claim they respect someone who tries to speak the truth, but in reality, this is a rare quality. Most respect those who speak truths they agree with, and their respect for the speaking only extends as far as their realm of personal agreement. It is less common, almost to the point of becoming a saintly virtue, that someone truly respects and loves the truth seeker, even when their conclusions differ wildly."

No, what is unrealistic, is maintaining a stigma on sex work, forcing it to stay underground and unregulated which is far more dangerous. You are going to have  spread of disease, crime and drug addiction in unregulated conditions.

EXPLOITATION is what causes trauma, not consent. Regulations where ANY industry can be monitored and give workers recourse is far better than unregulated exploitation.

Of course forced exploitation is going to cause trauma. You are making this about sex, but exploitation of labor in unregulated conditions can cause crime as well.

I don't know if you know who 80s/90s porn star Nina Heartley is, but she is a HUGE advocate of women's rights and for someone in the industry, she'd be the one to tell you you cant nor should keep sex work unregulated and underground.

NOBODY is advocating forced sex work.

I went to a prostitute, but unable to perform. I can't fuck a woman for money. We ended up talking about life. She was getting 50 euros, so yeah. She had to listen to my rants.

How about she starts off as your escort but then she genuinely falls in love with you? That's pretty sweet.

How about humans worldwide protect more from exploitation and stop thinking sex is the only thing that can be exploited?

Bernie Maddoff wasn't running a sex ring, but his 40 billion dollar Ponzy scheme destroyed the lives of countless, even to the point of his own son committing suicide.

I think it is far better to have legal AND regulated porn with adult workers, and legal and regulated adult prostitution than to force it underground where far much more can go wrong and hurt more.

Just like the budget cuts on Wall Street Regulators made it far easier for Bernie to go undetected for as long as he did.

Sounds like a lot of marriages. . . like, maybe most of them. I think it would be cheaper, though.

Anyway, nobody criticizes kids for having stuffed toys because they aren't "really" emotionally comforting.

So do janitorial work, McDonald's jobs, and database maintenance.

I've met plenty of girls like this, and I'm not sure that what you're saying is factual. When I was younger, some of my best female friends were exotic dancers or prostitutes. For the most part, they identified the best way for them to make money at that time, were trying to save money for dance class or college, and were respectable human beings.

That's in Vancouver, though. Obviously in harder areas, where pimps are coercing young girls with drugs and so on, things are much worse. But it's not the job itself that's really the horror-- it's the way the girls are being abused.

It's a common theme in the fictional works of science fiction writer Robert Heinlein. It was also a thing in the excellent but short-lived science fiction series Firefly. In both cases, there were women who provided sex for pay but it wasn't a sleazy thing. The women were sweet and provided  emotional gratification as well. In the case of Firefly. there was a strict code of behavior to which clients must adhere to or they would be black-listed and unable to hire other such women in the future. The women were also free to decline the propositions of any man with whom they did not feel comfortable.

I think this would be better than CL's idea of sex robots although that would work too. I just see this as a better alternative. If I was a young guy, desperate to have sex and wanting an emotional experience as well, this would be a better thing. There would just need to be a code of behavior and respect. The woman must not be treated as an object. We're talking about a totally new class here - women who are respected as providers.

So what do you say, ladies? Could this work?

If you want an emotional experience as well, why not just pursue a girlfriend/wife?

You can't buy a real emotional connection.

I'm thinking someone like Inara on Firefly. She's a fictional character of course so I don't know how realistic she is.
Only two things are infinite, the universe and human stupidity, and I'm not sure about the former.
