I'm eating Thanksgiving dinner at my sister's house, so I don't have to cook. Yay me!

What are you making for Thanksgiving dinner?
|
I like to cook on Thanksgiving, it gives me something to do instead of just sitting around bored lol.
I have some Mexican friends who are like family so my kid and I are going to their house and I'm cooking most of the dinner: 15 pound turkey, allegedly pre-brined. I'm trying something new this year and cooking it in a food-grade plastic bag. I'm hoping the experiment will work this year. Ham Pork tamales (store bought) Mashed potatoes Corn bread Stuffing - by request - I wasn't going to make it because my friends mostly don't care for it. I made it one year, no one knew what it was and they barely touched it. One guy dumped a bunch of hot sauce on it before eating, ugh. Pumpkin pie Mississippi Mud Bars - a chocolate-y brownie type thing (secret recipe) Word on the street is that everyone wants to do a white elephant gift exchange, slightly weird for Thanksgiving but I'll do it. Dinner's at 3, see you then! -Teresa
.
Two turkeys.
One in an electric roaster, the other smoked by me in a smoker we inherited. Dafuq? Her dad smoked meat in it; so what- I ain't her dad. It's going to take a whole bag of coals and multiple lightings of same, with all kinds of attendance, for like 5 hours. Fuck that. I haven't done it in years, and I'm hoping for the wind to come up and make it not happen again this year. Then, it can suffer "mysterious disappearance" from the back yard, I won't have to do it ever again. Some vegies- sweet potatoes, baby potatoes, some kind of green beans, a nice salad with lettuce, tomatoes, radishes, black olives and other goodies in it. Punkin pie.
If you get to thinking you’re a person of some influence, try ordering somebody else’s dog around.
The day of, what ever we can find at the casino. Some attendees have to work that day.
Day After: Steaks and turkey. Some assholes whined about only having one. (stop looking at me) Green bean casserole (ick ick ick). I was out voted. Scalloped corn. Smashed Spuds with gravy. 2 kinds of stuffing, one in the bird, one stove top with oysters added. Some kind of rolls (nobody can agree yet, probably making more than one type, assholes) Apple pie and peach pie. Cool Whip/Vanilla ice cream (might be a good time to try that cheese thing) Mole asses cookies with extra lard. Syrup of ipecac.
Being told you're delusional does not necessarily mean you're mental.
Reservations.

I'm not much of a grillmeister, but I'll grill a T-bone in a heartbeat! Turkey takes too much time. When I was on travel to Cape Canaveral, I used to buy small T-bones and grill one on Saturday for lunch, along with some of those little golden potatoes and some broccoli. Good times! Didn't need the syrup of ipecac, though.

For homemade cranberry sauce, add some fresh grated ginger and a little orange juice when you make it. It's really good.
