First question, what is a "Seventh Day Adventist church"?
Why should I care about it enough to ask questions?

The answer is in the name - the "seventh day" of the week - Saturday is a day of rest from work, to be kept sacred, and "adventist" means looking for the "advent" of Christ coming to earth and taking them to his world.

That's about right, the 7th day is called "Sabado" or Shabbat, Sabbath etc in many different languages. Sunday, or the venerable day of the Sun god was adopted by the world church, or Catholic church, and has remained in place ever since. The Christian world kept the 7th day, until Sunday became compulsory by the end of the fourth century.
It was initially a political move by the Roman emperor, who became the Bishop of Rome, to get the votes of both the Pagan and Christian majorities.

The 7th Day Adventists are the remnants of the Millerites from the 1830s-40s.  After the Great Disappointment ( actually the second Great Disappointment ) they changed their name and rebranded themselves.  There are always xtians who think the world is ending.  They've all been wrong.

You know something which a lot of people don't. As for being wrong about the end of the world, they'd only have to be right once wouldn't they?

I've always manifested a bit more respect for 7th Day Adventists, they come within 12 hours (on average) of actually remembering and keeping Holy the Sabbath, just as they are Commanded to do.

I have been surprised by several comments on this forum, you seem to be more knowledgeable than those on Christian forums, and yet many of you claim to be 'outside' of that circle.

Jesus experienced His Sabbath from sunset Friday to sunset Saturday, so it's funny the SDAs didn't go 'all the way' when they decided to buck the trend of First Day worship.

So, in view of that, yeah, they're slackers too.

Hello,

I was raised in the Seventh Day Adventist church, and although I am not worthy to be called one, I cannot deny what I have learned from their resources. 

I am familiar with all of their doctrines, and I would like to say that they are unique to the rest of Christendom, despite the amalgamation of many of their sectors into common religions.
By coming to an atheist forum, you would think that I want to be eaten by lions, but I am able to answer any queries about SDA's, and why their standing puts them into opposition with the rest of the world's religions.

Besides that, I am interested in talking with Atheists, because I am an Atheist by nature, and I feel that in many cases they are not given the credit for their logic, by the professed believers in God.
However, I am also ready to challenge some of Atheist thinking, because I have had to face similar questions in order to accept some of the answers.

Am I here to advertise the religion? It is invariably part of me, so yes I would be, but not intentionally.

I am not going to share anything, unless you ask a direct question, and I'll give a short answer, but I am more interested in your experiences and views.

Little advice if you wish to enjoy your stay here. Know the difference between bluntness. blasphemy and rights. Your claims WILL be challenged here, and you will get offended, but don't think of that as anything personal, but a challenge to the logic of your claims.

AND treat everyone here as individuals. We are not a gang, even among atheists we don't always agree. We have Catholics and even a few Muslims that hang out here. 

One thing I can tell you about myself ONLINE not just here is I do get frustrated when theists go to where atheists hang out and expect us to say, "Isn't that nice", because we are skeptics and we don't simply swallow.

But we are not out to barbecue kittens or eat babies, nor do we love dictators.
