Every now and again you hear the stories of drugs being peddled in schools (a few years ago there was a scandal in my home town because some guy was selling drugs to the kids outside the school gates... a junior school FFS!).
In some school, especially city center ones you also hear about kids carrying guns (and i'm talking about England here, not he US - where guns are supposed to be quite difficult to get hold of). Spent a couple of hours once talking to a London schoolteacher about 10 years ago when on a train journey. She kept thinking about quitting because it was tearing her apart having to deal with kids carrying weapons to school, taking drugs, smoking, drinking, etc. And this wasn't some crazy old grandma of a schoolteacher. She was in her late 20's early 30's from what I could tell and seemed like a normal person.
Hey, don't get all ranty on me about this, can't one be doing the devil's advocate for a while? I agree that kids do have drugs already, but the sheer availability can make a huge difference, just sying *don't hurt me*
I've said already that I wouldn't oppose to all drugs legalized, the thing is I do have reservations towards 'hard drugs'. You don't mind I raise a few possible negative points towards it or do you? You know, not everything are roses.

Well I don't see those drugs on the list, do you! The statement I used was taken directly from the list in the poll, and is relevant to this thread. So, before you going making stupid statements yourself, perhaps you should relate your answer to the thread.

Basically ib.me.ub, you are against the freedom of people to choose what they do with their own bodies, and by wanting to ban all substances that cause harm, you open a pandora's box of problems.
You can't stop people from harming themselves if they want to, unless you are content with locking them up and putting them under constant control for the rest of their lives. The key to keeping people from harming themselves is education, not control. Legalize drugs, let the free market make them safer, and educate people in their dangers. Then people can decide if they want to cause damage to their bodies, not some fascist state.
Nobody decides what I do with my body but me. Anything else is a form of slavery.
Well then Adrian you are a slave under the current system, living in a facist state. Because as far as I am aware, all of the drugs on that list, apart from alcohol and tabacco, are banned substances. For fuck sake, do you think there is a reason they banned?
Also, I answered the poll provided with the information provided (Table: Most harmful drugs). I did not change or alter any information. I gave my opinion, in relation to the thread, if you don't like it well bad luck. Here is a fiddle. The smallest fiddle in the World! ;-).

The question is whether or not they are banned for good reasons. I think it's fairly easy to make the case that 1) Making non-addictive recreational drugs legal will be largely positive 2) There exists a fairly atrocious and illogical double standard that can allow alcohol to be legal but not weed, LSD and ecstasy, all of which are less harmful in terms of social impact, physical health and addictiveness

We don't care, honestly. If your reasoning is bad that's all there is to it, your opinion in and of it's self is not a reason to respect your conclusion.
Play your self the fiddle.

Who cares. They are banned substances.

I'd never use LSD, after finding out what happened to Sid Barret that is one drug that I wouldn't touch with a 10 foot pole. But I wouldn't deprive anyone else from using it.

Trust me, its still better than heroin, start using that and she will turn you into her bitch!
PS - I dunno why religions haven't adopted heroin in their dogma, such an easy way to almost definately subdue their faithfull... I guess the fact that their faithfull would die out fast isn't as profitable as the actual status.

Bitch or zombie, neither option sounds that appealing to me.

Although possibly zombie one will be free inside his crazy mind, no regrets, no feeling, etc. Heroin however, forces you into the slavery of living towards the next fix, to the absurdity of commiting acts you normally wouldn't do and most importantly, it takes away your will. But yes, I wouldn't stop anyone from trying, its even on the junkie textbook.

Sure, no rant intended. Probably just came out wrong.
As for LSD, its a thing to be done once in your life in good company in a good safe environment. Pot of tea on standby if you start to loose the plot and good friends to distract you from anything that starts to freak you out.
If you like it and do it more often I would say no more than once a month. Keep reality in focus, although I would say that about most of the harder drugs. The problems start when you take them too often and its becomes a regular thing. ie: when going out on Friday you *must* take something to have a good time.... its the first sign that you are doing too much.
Had a friend who was definitely doing too much speed when he started putting a spoon of speed in his morning coffee! hock:
Cannabis is about the best. You can smoke and smoke the stuff, then sleep it off and wake up feeling fine and ready for work (providing you have a full nights rest and don't stay up all night playing games and smoking more - oh the memories - lack of productivity at work is a definite outcome).
Was a very heavy pot smoker for about 10 years along with the occasional other drugs. No bad side effects. My wife says I have a terrible memory but my mum used to say that when I was a kid as well... so no change there. Didn't negatively impact on my career either. I moved from jobs to better jobs throughout this period. Quitting (more or less) also was not a problem, although it was prompted by the impending birth of our firstborn. Still enjoy a smoke from time to time, but only a few times per year.
The only negative side was financial as I could have spent that money on other things. On the other hand I had a friend who was an audiophile and spent 10x what I was spending on drugs on audo equipment etc. There is a financial term called utility, which represents the amount of use/pleasure/enjoyment/satisfaction/proft you get out of an investment. I would say the money I spent on weed gave me a lot of utility... if not much to show for it.
A finite number of monkeys with a finite number of typewriters and a finite amount of time could eventually reproduce 4chan.
