We've all seen them at some time, those overdressed, fake looking people who appear on your TV late at night, or early in the morning, selling all sorts of fake "blessings" and asking you for money so they can live their extravagant lifestyles while their followers often struggle.

From Peter Popoff, who was outed as a fake by James Randi in the 80s, and is still going strong, to the appropriately named Creflo Dollar jr, and so many others, these slick conmen are milking millions of desperate people out of their money every week.

Do these people, in your opinion, have ANY redeeming characteristics?

Have you ever encountered these individuals, or any like them, in RL?

Do you have any stories about these professional crooks?

Harvest bible has a great TV series based off it's sunday morning service. The series isn't about mony it about the bible shockingly enough.

Seems like there's a good chance they're one of us (atheists), right? Cults and superchurches seem like they'd be pretty cool if you're the leader and don't believe any of the nonsense you're selling.

They -do- keep getting caught having gaysex and conning god out of his money.  Does that sound like a person who earnestly believes in the product they're selling? Not really limited to televangelists either, when you think about it.
I am the Infantry. I am my country’s strength in war, her deterrent in peace. I am the heart of the fight… wherever, whenever. I carry America’s faith and honor against her enemies. I am the Queen of Battle. I am what my country expects me to be, the best trained Soldier in the world. In the race for victory, I am swift, determined, and courageous, armed with a fierce will to win. Never will I fail my country’s trust. Always I fight on…through the foe, to the objective, to triumph overall. If necessary, I will fight to my death. By my steadfast courage, I have won more than 200 years of freedom. I yield not to weakness, to hunger, to cowardice, to fatigue, to superior odds, For I am mentally tough, physically strong, and morally straight. I forsake not, my country, my mission, my comrades, my sacred duty. I am relentless. I am always there, now and forever. I AM THE INFANTRY! FOLLOW ME!

See? Nothing to say about the televangelists described. To me that just claims approval by omission.

Are you stoopid or somthin sport?

the OP directly ask these two questions:

Have you ever encountered these individuals, or any like them, in RL?

To the first question I pointed out that Pastor James in this case did not follow the script the OP provided as He simply preached a sunday morning service.

To the second I would have indeed have met the good pastor to in fact know what his Sunday morning services were like.

In short there are cases of tv evangelists simply doing God's work. However it takes an ounce of discernment and the wherewith all to apply it to figure it all out. Your attempt a generalized sweeping dismissal/rather your ready defense of the OP's dismissal even when the facts clearly do not apply, tells me you don't have an ounce of credible discernment nor the inclination to use it. So why waist my time? because of those who do indeed read these posts looking for answers.

RE: Televangelists
You mean, the same Pastor James who tried to stiff contractors for millions and then "disciplined" elders of his church when they publicly implied that he was lifting from the till of their megachurch...until they were forced to retract their condemnation in negotiation with those same elders for reasons™? The same Pastor James that the church removed from positions of authority and is now squirreling away?

RE: Televangelists
I think the trouble is that some people don't realize that all of televangelisim is a collection of paid infomercials. The networks rake the content creators over the coals for access, and the content creators in turn raid the pocketbooks of the audience to cover their "expenses". Yachts and mortgages, and suchlike.
