Some other reason? What other possible reason? At the risk of repeating myself, I can only repeat myself. You are splitting Planck lengths with this distinction between cosmos and universe, that's the stuff of philosophy not science. Why introduce a confounding factor?
How many theoretical physicists can dance on the lens of a telescope?

The Large Hadron Collider and other wigetry takes us back to 10-43 seconds after the universe began to inflate. We have no knowledge of the universe @ T=0

All else is chalk marks on a blackboard.

So it's your hunch then.  Got it.  Me too.

Wow! Thanks for this! I have always thought that a multiverse makes most sense and have been waiting for some sort of empirical evidence to support it. Exciting times. Now to rewatch those Rick & Morty shows.

"Everything that exists anywhere".

Now if you have an alternate description it had better be:

1) As pithy as the above.
2) Be very brief.
5) Make sense.
3) Not involve hideously complex mathematics.
4) Or, be highly entertaining, as in some new age woo interpretations.

Regarding no 3. Yes I do understand the various multiverse theories are at base, mathematical constructs.
But fuck off anyway!

A universe containing the multiverse doesnt sound right.

OK, let me settle the semantics once and for all...

Universe: Our perceived universe (as far as the eye can see!)
Multiverse: A theoretical universe which encompasses many (infinite) independent universes
Godfather Universe: The all encompassing vessel which contains all possible multiverses > universes.
Great Grandfather Universe: The Head Turtle

The gist seems to be that truly random events occurring in our universe is even crazier than the idea of a multiverse.

Randomness is also considered 'supernatural', it's just less flashy.

^^^^^

So the universe is not the only place?

So God and his talking animals live outside/beyond of our natural physical universe.
No probs ...but you can never know that, right theists...
It's just a claim completely without evidence.

Right?

CL?

check 1,2.... Is this mike on?

Guys, I really enjoyed this ...

I'd love humanity to solve this... It will be a game changer ... Where's Zefram Cochrane? Shit, we gotta wait till 2063... oh well.

HRH listened politely and then asked, 'It's all very interesting, but of what practical use is it?'

Nonplussed for a moment, the eminent scientist replied, 'Madam, of what practical use is a new-born baby?'

My version of the story says the eminent scientist was much more cunning. He replies “one day your highness may tax it.”

I'm gonna guess there are  more than one of those containers, amirite?
