Yes, someone probably came up with 16 act play to explain that too.

It's pretty straightforward, if you are actually interested.

Of course you know from the prequels that Bail Organa knows. He left a message for Leia in the event of his death and had it sealed to the royal family. It was not stored on Alderaan. Leia has never much cared about her royal title, and she abdicates her meaningless royal title to stay focused on her political work. The woman who takes the title gets access to the royal archives and hears Bails message meant for Leia. She initially actually intends to keep it a secret herself, but when Leia's investigation threatens to reveal the First Orders hidden army base, she decides that her political aspirations are more important than her royal duties, and releases the recording to the entire senate.

It's a very well written book, and I highly recommend it if you actually like these characters and enjoy political drama, as it's very faithful to Leia and the original trilogy.

It's called Bloodlines by Claudia Grey.

Also, the OT has always been a giant soap opera...space opera....whatever. This isn't new.

Works of fiction are in no way upsetting to me, at least until such works start interfering with what's going on in the real World.

I skimmed your post; it was interesting, but I have other hobbies in my life.  The special effects in #8 were still interesting, and still worth the price of a matinee.

There were some incredibly disappointing parts about the Last Jedi.

But there were some good parts, too.

It's become obvious to me that part of the goal of these movies is the sweeping aside of George Lucas's main characters(witness the death of Han Solo and Luke "becoming one with the Force). The last movie of the Skywalker Saga (Lucas did state that the movies were the story of the Skywalkers) was supposed to lean heavily on the Leia, who would no doubt have been killed off), if it hadn't been for the untimely death of Carrie Fisher.

The most stupid part of the movie, for me, was Leia doing the "Supergirl" act flying through the debris of the shattered bridge of the ship she was on.

As I stated above, it seems clear to me that they've decided to finish of the Skywalker storyline by killing off the Skywalkers. The only known descendent of that bloodline, so far anyway, is Kylo Ren and it seems clear that they're going to have to kill him off in the last movie.

Note that they have announced a new trilogy being produced and directed by the director of the Last Jedi (and, Jar Jar Abrams has been given the job of wrapping up the last movie (no doubt badly).

The best movie of the latest batch, in my humble opinion, is still Rogue One.

And, the one good scene (at least for me), is when the lone female general went to light-speed straight through one of the main Imperial star destroyers. Very well done!

That's one of the worst scenes due to the gaping plot whole it creates for the series. Why these elaborate plans to blow up Death Stars in the past? Why didn't they just send a drone ship through them at light speed?
