Tourette's

RE: Tourette's
I was interested when I saw the thread title. My uncle, brother and niece have Tourette Syndrome. I thought it would be an interesting conversation.

Nope.... just some jerk who thought he could make fun of a particular disability and then, when called out on it - makes a tl;dr wall of drivel which really has fuck all to do with his original post.

How about suicidal depressives, like me? It's hilarious! Sometimes I just kill myself!

I thought Tourettes was funny... When I was 11 and my 5 year old sister had it. For some strange reason when I got older and understood it better I stopped finding it funny. Isn't it weird how maturity does that to someone?

Nope, completely different.  For one thing, what you said was funny.  Self referential put down jokes are always the best.

Yep. Humour works only when there's some truth to the thing being made humorous. That's why the OP comes across as desperately unfunny. Among other reasons, anyway. There could be other factors, such as the complete lack of anything funny in the 'joke'.

I got no problem with people making fun of Tourette's. Its a funny disorder. I make fun of my tics all the time and I don't get offended if people make a good joke about it.

However you have to be somewhat original, especially if you are going to do the whole swearing thing. Just putting a different swear word ever other word isn't clever, its lazy. Its been done.

Now this is funny and original:

I find it funny because the joke isn't actually the swearing. The actual joke is the fact that his Tourette's startles the prey, since he can't control his outbursts. You could have any word in place of the swearing and it would still be funny. The swearing only serves as a link to Tourette's since that is what most people associate the disorder with.

They should do one where a husband is trying to go in for the sexy rear hug and scares the shit out of his wife by ticcing in her ear. <3

OP is shit. I was going to get all "what the fuck is wrong with you?" then I realized when I read your second post that something definitely is fucking wrong with you, so I've decided to be niceish. Just don't make jokes about Tourettes anymore because you're bad at it.
