Quote:Trump-backing Pennsylvania county braces for layoffs as coal mine closure threatens hundreds of jobs

Quote:President Donald Trump may have ended the so-called “war on coal,” but that doesn’t seem to have changed the fortunes of the coal-mining industry as a whole.

Local news station WTVA reports that 370 coal miners are expected to be unemployed after a coal mine located in Greene County, Pennsylvania closes for good this year. The mine closing would all but wipe out any gains made in coal mining employment since Trump’s election, as the coal industry has so far added just 500 jobs over the last year.

Quote:New layoffs at Indiana Carrier plant despite Trump deal

Quote:INDIANAPOLIS — A new round of layoffs is taking effect at the Carrier Corp. factory in Indianapolis a little more than a year after President Donald Trump touted a deal that save some of the plant’s jobs.

How's it feel to have been used as a prop by a lying con artist, guys.  Wake the fuck up.  Corporate 'Murrica regards you as clowns.

And it doesn't even slow the WLB down when it comes to making an ass of himself.

Quote:Trump tweets poll that gives Obama credit for economy

Quote:While Trump is right that these numbers are the highest positive rating for Quinnipiac polls on the economy since 2001, the poll also found that 49 percent of American voters believe former President Barack Obama to be responsible for the current state of the economy. Only 40 percent of voters said that Trump was responsible.

We'll be lucky to survive this fucktard.

Not to mention "The Economist" did a number on him:

Quote:Mr Trump has been a poor president in his first year. In his second he may cause America grave damage. But the presidential telenovela is a diversion. He and his administration need to be held properly to account for what they actually do.

teachings of the Bible are so muddled and self-contradictory that it was possible for Christians to happily burn heretics alive for five long centuries. It was even possible for the most venerated patriarchs of the Church, like St. Augustine and St. Thomas Aquinas, to conclude that heretics should be tortured (Augustine) or killed outright (Aquinas). Martin Luther and John Calvin advocated the wholesale murder of heretics, apostates, Jews, and witches. - Sam Harris, "Letter To A Christian Nation"

Coal as well as oil need to be put out to pasture just like rotary phones. I am so sick of morons getting stuck in the past, when investment in newer technology always has created jobs for the future.

Yeah, Bill de Blasio published an open letter about it

Friends,

This week, America’s largest city became America’s first major city to set itself on the path to divesting from Big Oil. Yes, we’re talking about New York City.

And not only that, we’re suing. We’ve filed a lawsuit against the biggest culprits that got us into the climate crisis: ExxonMobil, BP, Chevron, ConocoPhillips and Royal Dutch Shell. We need to stop funding the fuel of yesterday, so we can have a better and stronger tomorrow.

We know other cities and states are watching us and we want them to follow with bold climate action of their own. New York City is happy to step forward, but we don't want to stand alone.

That's why I'm encouraging you to join the Fossil Free campaign and get your town or city to take a stand against fossil fuels. You can get started by hosting or joining a watch party this January 31st as 350.org and other movement leaders kick off this new campaign.

Here in New York City, we are planning to move about $5 billion from investments in approximately 190 companies that own fossil fuel reserves. We’re doing this because it makes sense for our portfolio - and our planet.

Our message to elected officials everywhere: it's clear by now Big Oil isn't going to change its stripes; it's time to stop pretending and start divesting.

We’re also taking decisive action because of you - and all the other activists, advocates and people of good will who have been sounding alarms for years. So thank you! Together we can make a huge difference.

Tune in on Jan 31st (or get tickets if you're in Washington D.C.) and let’s continue this fight in your city or town.

Let’s work in common cause as though our lives depend on it. Because they do.

Sincerely,

Mayor Bill de Blasio
