Beginner's Guide to Atheism.
#21
RE: Beginner's Guide to Atheism.
Once upon a time, in the beginning, there almost certainly wasn't a god, and it didn't speak, as non existent beings cannot talk. it didn't look around and say everything was good, because this would imply the being existed, and we've already said that it likely did not.

and it didn't rest because it didn't do anything.

And for all these non-achievements, billions of people around the world worship it and talk to themselves.
Dying to live, living to die.

With all due respect, I wouldn't have expected you to give any credence to the theological opinions of Dawkins, or any of the so-called "new atheists" for that matter. Sartre or Camus would be better choices IMHO.

No, it's YOU whose theological opinions we dismiss as horseshit.

Without harsh pruning, a thing like GS seeks is unlikely. You'd think that there'd be one place where all the self-righteous knobs would keep their blue noses out of it. But, noo-oo.
If you get to thinking you’re a person of some influence, try ordering somebody else’s dog around.

I did suggest moderation, but a webpage where the content can be controlled would be better. I don't mean it to be a forum, but rather a reference site. There could be a forum for discussion, but this forum would serve admirably for that purpose, I think.

As soon as your side presents something more compelling than the same old fallacious arguments, and insufficient evidence, to support theistic claims, we'll find someone 'better' than Dawkins.

As it is, someone that is as 'theologically unsophisticated' as Dawkins, and the rest of the 'new atheists' have no problems refuting theistic horsehit, so I think we're fine.

You'd believe if you just opened your heart" is a terrible argument for religion. It's basically saying, "If you bias yourself enough, you can convince yourself that this is true." If religion were true, people wouldn't need faith to believe it -- it would be supported by good evidence.

Agreed, now that it has a bunch of christ-butter smeared all over it. Dodgy

Proof, as if any were needed, that he is way too smart for a fuckhead like you, LR.

In any event, The Bible Unearthed by Finkelstein is the best book on the subject for ripping out the foundation of jesusism.... and islam too, for that matter.  You can't build a house on a foundation of sand and the OT is a pile of shit.

Anyone with a little bit of brain that try to say that atheism is good while theism is bad would surely look at the universal system and laws or try to understand where evolution may eventually takes us to not what religions say.
What God has to do with religions?
If you guys have only religions to use in order to say that theism is bad and atheism is good then you only show how mentally bankrupt you are.

Chad actually suggested two atheist authors, so I don't know why he is catching so much shit. Might solve the problem to just ban one member from the thread.
