What's weird here is that the eldest was a 29 year old adult. Only religion could achieve that.

If you mean Francis Bacon, he was at best a nominal Christian. Even if he weren't, it is wrong to say that 'Christianity gave us the scientific method'. There is nothing whatsoever in Christianity that would lead to hypotheses testable by observation and experiment.

Think it through. It's not difficult. Different groups of people competed with each other. From an evolutionary perspective, they didn't begin with religion. Religion came in at some point. If religion were deleterious to the survival of the group, it would have been eradicated. But, it fixed in practically all groups. That indicates that it's advantageous.
