Weights and weight loss

Weights and weight loss
If anyone has any ankle weights they aren't using anymore, I'll gladly pay you for them. Part of my weight loss journey includes exercise and I think that I could stand walking with some ankle weights. It would add to the benefit of walking.

Oh - and I lost four pounds this week.

Yo Joods. I didn't know Ankle weights were an actual thing, are there other weights like that for other body parts? Like for our hands and stuff?

You can actually use the ankle weights on your wrists. They typically come with a velcro or other sort of adjustable strap. There's also small hand weights. Usually those are between 1 pound and 8 pounds. I have a set of those plus two 10 pound weights and a 25 pound weight.

The ankle ones are good for helping tone your legs when you walk. I'd use them on the treadmill at the gym.

I'd think that shipping costs would be prohibitive for ankle weights, Vs local purchase, for the price. Maybe look around for a nearer source. Good on you for losing some weight. 4 pounds is a good start. I could stand to lose about 40, myself. I gained ~25 pounds after retiring, much to my chagrin. Just walk further, Vs using weights, is my recommendation. [/doctor Fireball]

RE: Weights and weight loss
I considered a weighted vest and ankle weights and so on for myself but decided it's all pointless, ontop of that probably detrimental.

I've always thought of the added weight being added risk. They say overweight people have more problems with knees and ankles due to addition strain.

If someone's already overweight I can just think that additional weight would be worse.

For weight loss I've heard an hour power walk in the morning before breakfast is good.

Are you ready for the fire? We are firemen. WE ARE FIREMEN! The heat doesn’t bother us. We live in the heat. We train in the heat. It tells us that we’re ready, we’re at home, we’re where we’re supposed to be. Flames don’t intimidate us. What do we do? We control the flame. We control them. We move the flames where we want to. And then we extinguish them.

Impersonation is treason.

I was thinking the same thing, adding weight increases your risk of injury.

Check out Amazon, they have all kinds and price ranges, most indicate free shipping.

Check out weighted vests for women also.

I got mine from a five dollar store sort of near here. We can pop in while you’re here. They were five bucks or less. I know that much.
