"Free up storage space" warnings on Window 10

"Free up storage space" warnings on Window 10
Driving me to distraction. Nearly a daily thing. I deleted well over 1 gigabyte worth of stuff yesterday and am getting warning again today.

The numbers don't add up, I have 117 gigabytes filled with something, but it's not apps, my data, or programs.

I suspect Windows is just filling memory with everything I click on, post, look at, whatever and Windows never gets rid of it.

Heck, I deleted Google Earth, 500 megs worth a couple days ago, what the eff could be that big to accumulate since then ? And let alone the over 1 gig I got rid of yesterday.

Without sufficient memory, Windows says it's not updating anymore, but I'm wondering if that's a clue and old updates are clogging memory.

Saw something called Reimage that claims to fix it in 2 minutes but I'm loathe to turn something loose on my laptop that might eff it up.

Anyone else running Windows 10 with no memory ??

You may have some malware running?

most likely your old restore points and disk image backups.

There are many solutions, but the best is to dump windows and move to linux... you'll thank me later!

But if you are too lazy, just use ccleaner or any disk space analyzer.

The things that have got me before:
1)  Temp files.  Install a few programs, browse a few sites, and you have GBs worth of them pretty fast.
2)  Paging files.  For some reason, Windows likes to allocate a % of your drive space.  On an SSD, you want it turned off for sure.

Yeah I have a SSD on the laptop.
never dreamt I'd fill the damn thing.

Ccleaner is running. Looks like it's taking a machete to the buildup . . . .

WinStatDir is an app that will show you where your disk space is being used in a graphical way that makes it a little easier. Run is as admin.
