Anti theist isn't the same as atheist right?

No, but many Christians think it is. Or that it's against god rather than without god. And rightly or wrongly it's a loaded word.
If there is a god, I want to believe that there is a god.  If there is not a god, I want to believe that there is no god.

Ok because OP said devout anti-theist but you said atheist

So he did. Somehow I don't think coming out I'm against you will ever end happy.

I suppose he could try "rubbing them out". Some might become to emotionally attached.

Against theists.   Tongue  Coming out to theists by saying I'm anti theist is what won't end happy.  Course most of them think of themselves as christian, or Muslim, or whatever, not generally as theists, so the term may take a bit if explaining.

Oh I get what you mean, so you're saying he shouldn't use the term anti theist as it will come off as he is against his parents' beliefs not against religion in general?
