Easter, Bloody Easter!
#71
RE: Easter, Bloody Easter!
Aint nobody gives a shit about "jesus" at easter.  Never has been.  It started out as a divine land grab..it was held in suspicion thereafter on grounds that everyone knew it was a land grab, and the fact that the store shelves are stocked with chocolate eggs and not figurines of the resurrected christ is testament to the fact that early christians suspicions were completely well informed and would continue to be so if their religion hadn't gone full retard in the intervening centuries.
I am the Infantry. I am my country’s strength in war, her deterrent in peace. I am the heart of the fight… wherever, whenever. I carry America’s faith and honor against her enemies. I am the Queen of Battle. I am what my country expects me to be, the best trained Soldier in the world. In the race for victory, I am swift, determined, and courageous, armed with a fierce will to win. Never will I fail my country’s trust. Always I fight on…through the foe, to the objective, to triumph overall. If necessary, I will fight to my death. By my steadfast courage, I have won more than 200 years of freedom. I yield not to weakness, to hunger, to cowardice, to fatigue, to superior odds, For I am mentally tough, physically strong, and morally straight. I forsake not, my country, my mission, my comrades, my sacred duty. I am relentless. I am always there, now and forever. I AM THE INFANTRY! FOLLOW ME!

I liked the scene of the multiple Jesus' coupled with the pagan Easter goddess in American Gods.

What business is it of yours if someone takes off friday!  Unless you are signing their paychecks, YOU should stay out of it.  Maybe people have emergencies.  Even if it's just to go to the beach, you should keep your thoughts to yourself!

Just so long as you don't see us as shitty people for "celebrating torture and murder", when in fact we dont.

I saw "The Passion of Christ" by Mel Gibson and saw that as a twisted celebration that a sick mind felt needed to be relived over and over again. I grew up in an old Catholic Church that had the stations of the cross posted on the walls and little old ladies touching the images adoringly. The yearly live performances of the Crucifixion story in churches (on Sunday, not "Good" Friday) certainly qualify as a celebration.

I fucking and I repeat FUCKING can't stand Mel Gibson. That film was so stupid and was nothing but Christian propaganda.

It's a joke, chill.

Jesus' death is remembered 2 days earlier on Good Friday, and it certainly is not a "celebration." It's a somber day where we are supposed to go to church, not eat meat, not party, and just have a quiet day remembering what Jesus went through.

Honest question, can you explain without using biblical allegories how what was claimed to happen actually happened using science? i.e. the resurrection

That doesn't mean the people who did it weren't acting on free will and thus fully responsible for the evil deed. (It also doesn't mean that it's ok to kill other people after the fact who had nothing to do with it just because they are of the same religion as some of the people who did. This goes without saying.)

I don't see it as a story of sadism at all, and neither is that the intended Christian message of the story. The story is of self giving love, and dying for the sake of saving other people. You personally may take it as sadism, but that isn't the intended message being protrayed whatsoever.

Anyway, I'm glad you don't think we are sadistic. Thats good. I'm also glad I was able to clear up the misconception you had that Easter is the celebration of His death. Hopefully other things have been cleared up too.

I am saying that I don't think you are sadistic. I bet there are other Christians that get some sadistic or masochistic pleasure out of reliving this bloody event every year. Mel Gibson for one. Jim Caviezel too.

I mean, sure, there are some sadists who are christian, just as I'm sure there are sadists from all walks of life lol.

I can't speak for Jim and Mel, but it seems a bit rash to accuse those 2 of being sadists. If I was a successful film director, I too would have wanted to make a movie depicting the life and death of Jesus. And if I was a male actor, I would have thought it an honor to play the role of Jesus in the film. And I'm certainly no sadist.

The point of the film isn't to take pleasure from watching torture (that's what the Saw movies are for). Similarly to movies like Schindler's List, the torture being shown is to depict just how horrible something was so we can better understand and appreciate what others went through, not for pleasure.

It can't be explained by science because Jesus' rising from the dead was a supernatural occurance. Science deals with the study of the natural world. You are correct, that naturally and scientifically, a person cannot die and then come back to life 3 days later.
"Of course, everyone will claim they respect someone who tries to speak the truth, but in reality, this is a rare quality. Most respect those who speak truths they agree with, and their respect for the speaking only extends as far as their realm of personal agreement. It is less common, almost to the point of becoming a saintly virtue, that someone truly respects and loves the truth seeker, even when their conclusions differ wildly."

It can't be explained because it is physically impossible
