PSA, Prostate Specific Antigen.

ETA: That's not perfect. Mine had never gone over 5 when I was Dx'd.

Along with the PSA one of the best predictors is a complete history that includes age, race, medications, symptoms of BPH, and BRCA1/2 gene.

If suspected, the screening gets more complicated and techy.

Not to my knowledge.

Edit: BRCA identified in 1994/95, linked to prostate cancer as early as 1997, can't find any record of using it for screening until the 2000's.

That's a relief for me as my doctor has very large hands.
After a few painful examinations I was considering going elsewhere, but I'm glad I don't have to now as he is one of the best optometrists in town.
