Autism Spectrum Disorder

RE: Autism Spectrum Disorder
That was actually a good idea on wally's part. People in prison are lonely and could use a pen pal/long distance friend. That seems like the type of relationship you'd like. It may be something that could benefit you both.
"Of course, everyone will claim they respect someone who tries to speak the truth, but in reality, this is a rare quality. Most respect those who speak truths they agree with, and their respect for the speaking only extends as far as their realm of personal agreement. It is less common, almost to the point of becoming a saintly virtue, that someone truly respects and loves the truth seeker, even when their conclusions differ wildly."

I guess it depends why they're in prison lol. Maybe I totally misread him and he was being sincere, I thought he was being mean or suggesting that autistic people deserve the company of criminals.

And I resorted to a YOUR MOM joke. That's how low I stooped! That's LOW! Lol.

Hi CL.

I think he was being sincere. That's how I took it anyway.

Is this a good thread for question asking about autism, or should I shoot you a PM?

And for better or for worse, prisoners and people on the spectrum both tend to be misfits (at least to an extent).

Here is fine although I need to read up some more about how my autism affects me. I dunno which of my struggles are autistic and which are not lol.

I know some of them. Some of them are obvious.

I have two more post-sessions coming up at the centre that diagnosed me, where I'll be able to ask as many questions as I like about my condition, to the professionals. One is coming up next month.

The sessions are always well spaced apart because I get paid biweekly and have other expenses. They're always very understanding about arranging appointments.

And I never minded about waiting a month or two, I was always happy to have it to prepare.... I was just so relived for waiting over a year to get to the top of the list.

I have a form or paperwork or whatever you'd call it... a document. That has more information about my results today. I haven't read it yet. I've been totally exhausted as well as relieved since the session ended. I've been mostly eating and chatting. I had a burger king burger. I have some candy. I'm relaxing. Taking it easy. And I only had 5 hour sleep last night because I was too full of nervous excitement about my results to sleep much lol.

And I don't do drugs but many people wouldn't believe me when I say I don't lol.

I guess I have another explanation besides that and "I'm crazy Hammyyyyyyyy!" now though.

Do you have sensory issues?

I have incredibly sensitive skin.... I can't stand wearing jumpers, cardigans or sweaters and I itch if I have a bath so I prefer to shower.

I always would scream and struggle and refuse to wear anything woolly as a child.

In the winter I wear multiple layers of t-shirts on my top half.

Oh, and visually I see things normally as far as I know.... but I can't think in pictures. So I tend to say "My mind's eye is almost completely blind." That's the best way to describe it.

It may be T.M.I. but above all my inability to think in pictures doesn't just make it hard for me to find my way around or have a good sense of direction.... it's also incredibly frustrating when I'm trying to fantasize sexually but I have to do it all in words and sounds. So I tend to need more stimulation than just my imagination.

I am aware that many people sometimes get that feeling when they're in a crowded room with multiple conversations going at once...... but I am starting to wonder if I get that feeling more than most people do. Or to a higher degree.

I remember there have been times when I've got told off for evesdropping because I "shouldn't have been listening" and I've been like "I could hear it!".... and it leads me to believe that maybe most people are able to consciously tune in and out of things with their ears more than I am, whereas I hear everything around me at once. It's not like I can switch it off when I just hear multiple layers of sound on top of each other. After all, the fact I don't think visually at all, does make my conscious awareness rather sound-focused to say the least.

Hey bro! Sorry I'm late to the thread, but I'm glad you got your answers. I hope this understanding leads to eventually doors being opened to you. I know it's very boring, but have you considered data entry? In the US I've heard there are a lot of jobs available for that. I'm not sure about the UK. You might need training with databases or word processing software for some of it.
But you could probably do it as you go, instead of being bound to work x amount of days a week for x amount of time.

Good luck pursuing things in life, when you're ready. Who knows what could happen?

BTW I think you're awesome!

I think most guys need more than their imagination. At least unless they've abstained for a very long time. Jeebus gave us a design flaw. More like evolution is far from perfect.
With the thing about not being able to tune things out, I get that with schizophrenic part of my schizoaffective disorder. But I get it  a lot less and am better at focusing on what I want to focus on since I've been on meds that actually help a little.

False dichotomy.

^That one used to annoy EP so I love saying it even more now.

Thank you. I feel super relieved.

When I volunteer I input prison information about naughty people at an office. Well that's one of many things I'm doing at the moment. Prison records and stuff. I get a lot done insanely fast lol.

I only turn up about a quarter of the time... about monthly when I'm able to come down weekly. But I still get so much done so fast that they tell me to slow down so they can keep up with me lol. Because I got more done in a few hours than they did in weeks lol.

I struggle with consistency, motivation and reliability. And also concentration.

Once I'm working I'm working! They let me play music rather loud in my office. That stops me getting bored and ending up staring at the wall and thinking about titties and dinosaurs (not at the same time, dinosaur tits ain't my bag).

Yeah imagine one day if I discover something amazing like a cure for shitty almost all politicians.

I joined IDM forums yesterday, btw.

On rare occasions I hear different thoughts stacking on top of each other. It doesn't feel uncomfortable though. I can imagine someone with severe schizophrenic symptoms might have thought stacking rather more frequently, and it would feel uncomfortable, and maybe they wouldn't be able to hear it all at once.

It tends to happen when some of my thoughts become automated so then I basically have my conscious thoughts over the top of layers of the automated ones.

But when it's like that eavesdropping over people's conversations it can be rather overwhelming. Like, coming home today after my results I was on a train that was super duper crowded and I felt really stressed out about how incredibly loud it felt when I could hear people talking normal volume but I could hear so many different conversations going on at once and I couldn't tune it out. Just incessant chatter about bollocks. Not testicles.

Hi CL.

I think he was being sincere. That's how I took it anyway.

It was a real suggestion.  But it turns out they don't allow conjugal visits in the UK for some reason.
