I really wish I would have learned earlier in life how to identify logical fallacies. It may be helpful for some type of philosophy course be required for High School students. What about you? What would you change?

I would just make it have better education. I went to a private catholic school from k-8, and then public 9-12, and the difference is astounding. Public school was so much easier and laid back. Too laid back. It was a joke, really. But i had a blast.

I concur, and had a similar experience..though the difference is that -some- private catholic schools (certainly the ones that people jostle to get their kids into) operate as well-funded feeders for ivy league colleges. You kind of expect them to be less chill.
Public schools, largely, as a counterpoint...are little more than hopped up daycares where we stuff kids away whoile mommy and daddy go to work. We don;t fund them well, we underpay the teachers, and we fail to provide adequate educational tools.

Slash, machete and chop overhead; consolidate school districts. A given county or city does not need 5 or even 20 superintendents and boards of educations and separate armies of administrators.
Spend the money on educating the kids. The granting of a pardon is an imputation of guilt, and the acceptance a confession of it.
We do spend more on admin than on education.

The problem is not how much we spend but how much we waste on antiquated methods.

We -should- spend twice as much (or more) on an updated methodology. It would provide better returns.

Pay teachers 4x as much as they are paid now.

Shovel money into funding for public schools, instead of the military. Also probably would have a Myths and Religions extracurricular class to help explain things about religions and cults. That way we don't get a bunch of people yelling about wanting god in the classrooms.

Surprisngly, a good catholic school run by jesuits teaches precisely that.
