Boy, that Leo comes in handy sometimes, doesn't he?

I think I have answered this in the previous thread but for completeness will post here "The Universe is run by the complex interweaving of three elements: energy, matter, and enlightened self-interest." G'Kar-B5

One of my new year's resolutions, besides brushing up on and delving deeper into my hebrew, is to begin learning Gaelic in a more disciplined fashion. I've already started in a spotty manner. Started using Skipper in a medal of honor clan (Fuck yeah!!!) probably about 10 years ago now on the P.C ...not sure why but I know thats where it started.
I took the name from a song by the Canadian Thrash metal band Slaughter. It's some while since I've heard the song now, but in 2007 I thought it was über-cool.
WHen I first came up with my user name way back at the gaming forum which was the first forum I ever joined, I needed a cool-sounding name that wasn't also taken by some other douchebag.
Granted it wasn't my first choice, but it works well, I think. I came up with it because people know the devil was the angel of light (or disguises himself as one, I'm not sure) so the angel of darkness would logically be the opposite of the devil, I reasoned. The thought of people bringing up my username in regards to Satanic connotions (and being wrong) amused me.
If today you can take a thing like evolution and make it a crime to teach in the public schools, tomorrow you can make it a crime to teach it in the private schools and next year you can make it a crime to teach it to the hustings or in the church. At the next session you may ban books and the newspapers...
Ignorance and fanaticism are ever busy and need feeding. Always feeding and gloating for more. Today it is the public school teachers; tomorrow the private. The next day the preachers and the lecturers, the magazines, the books, the newspapers. After a while, Your Honor, it is the setting of man against man and creed against creed until with flying banners and beating drums we are marching backward to the glorious ages of the sixteenth centry when bigots lighted fagots to burn the men who dared to bring any intelligence and enlightenment and culture to the human mind. ~Clarence Darrow, at the Scopes Monkey Trial, 1925 Politics is supposed to be the second-oldest profession. I have come to realize that it bears a very close resemblance to the first. ~Ronald Reagan Minimalist Wrote:Boy, that Leo comes in handy sometimes, doesn't he? My user name came about when I had to think of something to put on the back of my school leaver's hoodie in Year 11 (dunno what that is for Americans). As I was considered something of a boff at school, I decided to put 'the omniscient one', mainly because I couldn't think of anything else. I told the person who was getting the hoodies made not to misspell it, as that would be embarrassing, then realised that misspelling it would be the perfect bit of self-deprecating irony. On my hoodie, it's actually spelt 'omnisceint', with the 'i' and the 'e' the wrong way round, but I decided to make it more obvious for my username. Thus, the Omnissiunt One was born.
