Who here plays Carcassonne?

Who here plays the incredible tile matching French countryside building epic of a game that is Carcassonne?
What are your favorite expansions? What are your best strategies? How do we introduce more people to the best game of all time? 
I think you recommended it in my thread about game recommendations.
But the concept didn't interest me.

Never tried any expansions, so I don't know of any of their merits One of the kids' strategies is to start cities near each other in a way that they end up shared between two or more players... and make those cities as large as possible! Also, convents (or churches or monasteries or whatever those things are) rule! 
So I looked it up and it looks great.
Think I'll be getting one for x-mas. If I was to get an expansion at the same time, what would be the ideal one?  RE: Who here plays Carcassonne?

Have you seen this? It comes with the base game plus 11 expansions. All for under $100! Is that a good price considering the number of expansions included? Disclaimer: I am only responsible for what I say, not what you choose to understand.
Oh it's a board game.
Problem there is I have no RL friends and I spend 99% of my time alone at home.
