I still haven't beat the campaign yet lol.

I got to electric power, but that's about it! I got an automated thingy going. I keep working at the transporter tracks and then my resources run out lol.

I keep restarting the game over and over trying to master the basics.

I guess you'd either have to show me the way or we could learn it together (depending on if you're experienced or not).

I have 13 hours of it on Steam.

Although most of that was in one day

I love the game to death I just keep getting stuck all OCDish on the start of it. Haha. I'm worried about it sucking too much of my time away! Most enjoyable game I've played in ages (and I bought a lot of games on Steam), aside from AoE2 (and that's just because AoE2 is my favorite game of all time).

Terraria is good too but I feel like that will get boring for me more quickly (or already has) than Factorio. I am stuck in different way in Terraria. In Terraria there's a later game stage that I am stuck because it's so difficult and frustrating despite the game's awesomeness. In Factorio I keep restarting because I am determined to get the early game mastered some more. It's increasing my OCD

All you need is factorio planner.  Bus and mall till bots, gg.
(factorio is fuckin -dangerous- if you have compulsions.........)

I have some bps for a t1 that sets you up for endgame.  Easy to explain in text, though, lol.

Into a refinery complex

Then you split half the copper plate bus for 2/2 copper plate green circuit, add an injuector mall, and you have a fully automated t2 sci base. At which point you have to decide whether you want to wall, go tank, go train, or go bot.

Takes about an hour and a half. Obviously alot less in mp. The first hour is just grinding out resources, lots of walking to and fro. You dont need any more than a single refinery blade for iron or copper till you have blue or red belts. 48 smelters per blade. Edge load, center sump. Re-balance into bus after process.

Bus and mall for t1 lines or outposts. Tank for pvp/biter servers. Train for distance resource maps (or for pro artillery wagon pwnage). Bots work for everything but distance.

LOL, I guess so.  It;s alot easier to just make a 4 lane main resource bus, upgrade it...and consult factorio planner for inline process spurs.  That's probably the most efficient way to do anything in game..ignoring space efficiency completely. I call it the long march south, lol...building from the top down, left to right.

In theory, the further from bus origin you go the less effective it is...but with trains for travel and outpost resource insertion.....in practice, you'd never notice the diff in output. If you wanna play long game mega base style, the best first base is a multi buss cardinal intersection. Cut the map into quarters, work from there.

Ah, rgr, rgr.  A bus is just what you think it is, just like in electronics.  

Take four conveyor lines side by side moving in the same direction.  That way you can use underground conveyors (limit four blocks traverse) to cross under the bus.  

So your first four lane bus is just the basic game resources.  Coal, Iron, Copper, Stone.  

Your first goal is 5 blue assemblers making red science packs..and 6 blue assemblers making green science, along with @20 labs.  Then research mining upgrades and research upgrades.  The earlier you get it, the more it;s worth.

Best tips.  Setup one assembler making conveyors and another making green circuits while you build.  Cuts down the hand crafting time massively in the first hour.

Getting the assembling thing started is about the only other thing I've done after electricity so far, haha.

That and machine the hell out of some aliens lol.

I have got some shit to do! Haha. Like I said I keep restarting and trying to be more efficient, lol.

Thanks guys. I've now officially lost my life to Factorio!

My current to-do list:
1) Fill in part of a massive lake I found so that there's a big island in the middle. Then build a big 4-walled fortress/castle on it.
2) Use concrete to set up a 5 tile-wide super-highway connecting my biggest bases.
3) Design a blueprint including conveyors and turrets so I can very quickly extend a line of turrets with an automatic ammo-feed.
4) Resist the urge to launch a rocket, ever. Die having resisted launching a rocket and "winning" the game.
