Thanks guys.  I've now officially lost my life to Factorio!

My current to-do list:
1)  Fill in part of a massive lake I found so that there's a big island in the middle.  Then build a big 4-walled fortress/castle on it.
2)  Use concrete to set up a 5 tile-wide super-highway connecting my biggest bases.
3)  Design a blueprint including conveyors and turrets so I can very quickly extend a line of turrets with an automatic ammo-feed.
4)  Resist the urge to launch a rocket, ever.  Die having resisted launching a rocket and "winning" the game.

Nowadays The Simpsons is a lot more worthy of being made fun of than Factorio is. Factorio rocks. Unlike formulaic modern day Zombie Simpsons.

If you play rail map settings, the biters wont attack rails outside of your loaded chunks.  Saves resources and gives you a reason to go arthur wagon.

I'm planning to put heavily-fortified guardposts along every single track line (thus the blueprint for turrets + conveyor belts).  I've already carved out a huge land form, enclosed largely by water, and made a blueprint for a fortified radar base for vision.

Oh, I forgot one goal: have such an impressive economy that I can build nuclear bombs faster than I can launch them. One bomb, one hive. Right now, I have fully-upgraded missiles. They're okay, but I'm going to have to accelerate my bug-murdering capabilities if I'm going to achieve my goals.

I can't understand how this game hasn't been in my life for the past 15 years.  It feels like I've known it that long-- it's like. . . was there ever a resource-based builder before this one?

I know.  I've played a few.  But Factorio just seems so. . . I dunno.

I did buy this game but I don't think I have enough time to dedicate to it.  I know an engineer who works at the factory I work at whose job sounds really fucking boring but he gets paid a good amount of money to do it.  Getting into this game feels like the boredom I'd probably get from his job minus all the money he gets. 

Maybe when I'm either ill, or when it's just too cold to go outside I'll get stuck into this game one day.
