What book are you reading?

I also enjoyed the Kushiel books by Jacqueline Carey - lots of epic political intrigue, BDSM, and gorgeously developed historical fantasy worlds. The last time I had a moment like I did when I saw Sean Bean was going to be in GOT, I was blindsided with a trailer for Phantom of the Opera and told Gerry Butler was going to wear those leather gloves. Random, Lily: I'm assuming you've read the Sookie books - have you heard the rumors of who might play Bubba?

It's been a while since I sat down with a fiction book. Right now I'm rotating between Seeds of Deception (for my paper on GMO's), The Vertical Garden, Catching Fire (arguing about our evolution due to cooking our food) and Sagan's Demon-Haunted World.

Last I read Bubba wasn't going to be cast.

If you're on facebook and haven't yet you may want to friend Jacqueline Carey, like Anne Rice she's very approachable and present on her page. Of all the places to get intro'd to the Kushiel books, I was in the grocery store and I really did judge the book by its cover. It's an amazing series.

I had to wonder why Sean Bean takes these roles that are so limited in time?

Last I heard, at a convention the entire crowd started calling the director for Bruce Campbell...

Hehhehe. Hail to the King, baby. XD

I don't know, and it's a shame, because he's one of those guys that just has that...presence...you know? I adored him as Boromir. In fact, I loved him so much, despite everything about that character, that it took me forever to warm up to David Wenham. The only guy who had better casting was Daniel Craig as Lord Asriel, but of course they had to go and screw that movie up.

Which brings the point of the His Dark Materials trilogy also being kick ass. So kick ass that it inspired me to want to read Paradise Lost.

I had problems with the last book of the His Dark Materials. It may be that I read them back-to-back.

I loved the way that Sean Bean was able to bring back the honor into the character of Boromir. Overall LOTR was brilliantly cast, however, I would have liked to have seen more of Sean Bean!

That one scene where Denethor imagines him turning around with that huge smile and walking toward him, that was just...wow.

Now we get to see if Pete can pull it off with The Hobbit!

The death of Denethor was brutal, everytime I watch the movie I have to wonder if Peter Jackson had daddy issues? I thought it was a brilliant scene where Denethor and Pippin are together Pippin is singing and Denethor is having his lunch/dinner. Denethor is just so primitive and animalistic I've always wondered if the intro to "Dexter" was influenced by that scene?

Completely agree, and Billy Boyd makes me tear up every time. I haven't seen Dexter yet, but I keep meaning to download the first season.

Last book I read was World War Z, and it was actually pretty awesome. Zombie apocalypses > religious apocalypses. Wink

Dexter is awesome, I have to admit that I liked last Season better as John Lithgow and Michael Hall were just amazing the way they just kept playing off of each other. This season is good, I never thought I could be a fan of Julia Stiles but she's rocking her guest role this season!
