The volume of posts and the quality of posts are not the same.

If there was a way of calculating the post value (to the forum) like:

Kudos Value = (Post volume / Total Kudos) multiplied by the Rep points.

Then maybe if someone held a high enough value they could be given a rep boost bonus.

That might be fair.

After all talk...and posts are cheap.

My talk doesn't come cheap, it comes at the great expense of the other forum readers.

Having been on forums that allow only one or the other, I like the combination of rep and kudos we have here and have no problem with the rep limit.

Of course, I'm more of a kudos junkie anyway. Fuck delayed gratification.

My noob guess is:

Changing the way a forum is run is a lot of "behind the scenes" work for admins & mods (that people don't realize) & that's a lot to ask from unpaid volunteers, unless the change is truly deemed necessary. 


My guess is that this community, like many others, uses a more intangible...more human way, of judging the value of members then simple rep.

After all, the current "rep whore thread" shows many posts like... "I can't believe I've never repped you til now, etc..." because the interactions between friends are more important to people then the badges.

That we be allowed to double rep someone if the person providing the rep has reached above 20k posts on the forum.

I figured the old routine wouldn't work, but mayhaps including an incentive whereby a second rep can only be achieved via a special incentive could work better.
