RE: What do you think of Wicca?
I actually have two books from Wicca I have to read at my house. I bought them about 8 months ago, never read them.

I actually discovered a site about spells, and Wicca...and it's very helpful. I personally like incantations, as I'm a little lazy, and gathering different kinds of ''ingredients'' and ''items'' for a spell requires some planning. Big Grin haha! There are some simpler spells, though. The real power comes from our intentions and what or ''who'' we might be invoking. I believe in God, consider myself spiritual, so invoking God comes more natural to me.

They make familiar with intentions and using tools, to focus. Some things are not just tools though, they have spiritual properties.  Everything has both a physical role in this world and spiritual role. They are familiar with the latter to degrees we don't know or perceive.

If you want to play with this stuff, all I advise you, is to always reflect about the path. If God is holy, what other then his holy name would be the path? It's holding on to his name in midst of falsehood, submitting to his images in midst of many claims to him, and recognizing his proof that has no comparison to all conjecture, that becomes definition of goodness in these dark times.
I know what you're saying. I don't follow what you do, though. That said, I have a Christian friend who I shared this with, (mistake) and she told me that if I choose to invoke God's name with any spell...I will be committing blasphemy. But Christians do horrible things ''for God,'' ''in the name of God'' all day long, and that's okay? Got it.  Dodgy

The name of God is a person like Samuel who personal name means "name of God".

In such people lies the light out of the darkness and the door ways out of the dangers that destroy.

You should read them, and just learn. Just because you read other books outside of your own beliefs, doesn't mean you are a follower of said beliefs. It's good to educate yourself on others' beliefs.

@Mystic
Which books

@Deidre
Whats the primary interest?  Theology, ritual structure, arts and crafts, herbs and soaps and oils and whatnot..or magic?
I am the Infantry. I am my country’s strength in war, her deterrent in peace. I am the heart of the fight… wherever, whenever. I carry America’s faith and honor against her enemies. I am the Queen of Battle. I am what my country expects me to be, the best trained Soldier in the world. In the race for victory, I am swift, determined, and courageous, armed with a fierce will to win. Never will I fail my country’s trust. Always I fight on…through the foe, to the objective, to triumph overall. If necessary, I will fight to my death. By my steadfast courage, I have won more than 200 years of freedom. I yield not to weakness, to hunger, to cowardice, to fatigue, to superior odds, For I am mentally tough, physically strong, and morally straight. I forsake not, my country, my mission, my comrades, my sacred duty. I am relentless. I am always there, now and forever. I AM THE INFANTRY! FOLLOW ME!

Only rituals and spells, however I'm reading about the history behind Wicca to gain a general understanding.

I am probably more familiar with the Neopaganism, then Shiite Islam or Hadiths of Ahullbayt (as) to be honest.  I spent a lot of time reading, and to be honest, the Quranic perspectives to their perspective and the arguments against their ways, to me are solid reasons not to go this picking and choosing path, but rather to submit to God's light and name.

If we didn't hold on to his name/face or followed people without proof to the claim,  we deserve every destruction to our souls in this world and the next.

You are cross-roads *Deidre*,  this is very enticing learning abilities and all that, it can be fun, but it can lead to loss, and at this point you don't know.

And there is no harm in reading any book, but there is harm in relying and listening and giving ear to hidden (Jinn) and manifest (humans) creatures of God for all you know, are not guided, and are not truthful.

If you are going to listen one way, listen to arguments the other way.

It can be cool learning all properties of all thing spiritually, it could be beneficial, or if not ready, it can be harmful to us, because we begin to misuse skills we weren't meant to open up without a guidance from a Guide from God and reliance on God's rope in this regard becomes key.

I caution you with the same caution to myself.

So, for the history of wicca..you want Triumph of the Moon.

For rituals, Bucklands Complete Book Of Witchcraft or Cunninghams* Guide For The Solitary Practitioner.

For spells, any book in the new age section written for lovelorn teenage girls will do..but it would be a waste of time.  Any wiccan worth their salt will tell you that there is no such thing as a bunch of magic words, spoken right, at the right time..to make magic happen.  It;s deeply personal, you can and should construct them yourself using whatever imagery or bric a brac speaks to you.

Personally, when I want to make the magic happen..I put on some smooth jazz..light a bunch of lavendar scented candles..and whip up a batch of homemade alfredo. It;s been working well enough, she still loves me. Wink

Neither of those books have anything to do with wicca.
