Ways to help promote self improvement for a better world?

Edit Reason: Numbering typos
)
I'm posting this in the Arts forum because sometimes I think of it as a performance art, and I don't see any better fit for it in any other forum. It won't hurt my feelings if it gets moved to some other forum.
Sometimes people try to improve themselves, to help improve the world for everyone in the world, or at least for the people around them. For example they might try to learn to be more kind or more patient, or to be a better listener or a better friend. Does anyone have any ideas about how it might happen that more people would do more of that, and how any of us might help it happen?
For me, it starts with practicing that myself, working to improve my own character, my conduct, and the way I live my life, in ways that might help make the world better for all people everywhere. Trying to learn to be more environment-friendly for example. Then to try to learn to encourage and support other people who are trying to improve themselves for the benefit of others. Then to learn to talk about it more, with more people.
I asked this in another forum, and got some good ideas. I decided to see if anyone here has any other ideas. Some ideas I've seen or thought of so far:
1. Practice it myself and be an example.
2. Become better friends with more people.
3. Encourage and support other people who are doing it.
4. Learn to talk about it more, with more people.
Any other ideas?
The biggest challenge for me now might be #2.
(later) Another reason for discussing it here could be because one of the best ways of promoting this might be through the arts.

Given that you are in China (?), #2 could be a challenge. It's a known thing that as men age, their circle of friends diminishes. I know that it is true for me, but I'm opening up to find more people. I spent so much of my time working and supporting my family that I made little personal times for friendships. Spending a lot of time commuting meant that I missed a lot of what my spawn did in school- track meets, swim meets, music recitals, etc. Whenever I talked with younger people where I used to work, when they asked about moving to an area with a lower cost of living, I always counseled them to stay close to work if they could possibly afford it. As the mortgage becomes less dear in cost for them, I hope that they will appreciate that advice. I'm retired, now, so have lost contact with a lot of them.
If you get to thinking you’re a person of some influence, try ordering somebody else’s dog around.

Im down to just one friend myself,...and I havent yet hit 40. It;s a good one, though. We;ve been buddies since we were preteens and we've already fit a bitch for concrete slippers off the skyway. IDK that I actually need more friends so long as he keeps breathing.
Our planned breeding program got interrupted by his ex, tho. I;ve gotta appear as a character witness this month. Strange to me, he;s been raising them for more than a decade.
I am the Infantry. I am my country’s strength in war, her deterrent in peace. I am the heart of the fight… wherever, whenever. I carry America’s faith and honor against her enemies. I am the Queen of Battle. I am what my country expects me to be, the best trained Soldier in the world. In the race for victory, I am swift, determined, and courageous, armed with a fierce will to win. Never will I fail my country’s trust. Always I fight on…through the foe, to the objective, to triumph overall. If necessary, I will fight to my death. By my steadfast courage, I have won more than 200 years of freedom. I yield not to weakness, to hunger, to cowardice, to fatigue, to superior odds, For I am mentally tough, physically strong, and morally straight. I forsake not, my country, my mission, my comrades, my sacred duty. I am relentless. I am always there, now and forever. I AM THE INFANTRY! FOLLOW ME!

There is a saying I heard about friends that seems to be true. There are three types: friends for a reason, friends for a season, and friends for life. It helps to know which are which IMHO.

OP: Drum circle, lots of LSD and continuous Grateful Dead.

Maybe, but not at the same time! I'm too old for that shit, and so are you.
Still, there's nothing necessarily wrong with the rare psychedelic meltdown -- minus the fucking drums, the mingled odor of patchouli and human funk, and yet another version of "Truckin'".
More seriously, I think people more widely embracing forms of meditation would be an unmixed blessing and improvement.

I went through this thread, and the same discussion in another forum, to summarize the ideas for promoting self-improvement with the aim of helping to improve the world for all people everywhere.
1. Practice it myself and be an example.
2. Become better friends with more people.
3. Encourage and support other people who are doing it.
4. Learn to talk about it more, with more people.
5. Help make it part of the education and training of children.
6. Internet discussions where people feel welcome to talk about their ideas, experiences, efforts and progress.
7. Mr. Rogers. as an example of how to promote emotional health.
