Anyway, if Herod was one of the characters in the Game of Thrones, you would say that this massacre of children was a horrendous act. Right?
Just as horrendous as god killing all of the firstborn sons of Egypt, including cows. Exodus 12:29.
Or god killing children with bears. 2 Kings 2:23-25. At least he was a little inventive with this massacre.

Not to mention that it comes from the same silly source as the star bouncing along the earth to shine over the nativity. Xtians will fall for anything.
The bible doesn't actually say that, but okay...

It does not say that but clearly to make the story work they would have had to .

Which is why Matthew cannot be trusted as an historical source; like Mein Kampf, it's full of Christian propaganda.

I can’t say that this particular story ‘shaped my mentality’ since I had ample reason to know, from other stories, that people often fabricate narratives to serve their purposes.
As a child, I understood that much and thought others did, as well. At least some of us.

Actually, it does.
Quote:9 After they had heard the king, they went on their way, and the star they had seen when it rose went ahead of them until it stopped over the place where the child was.

Referring to the infants killed in lieu of baby Jesus as 'innocents' is heresy in that it denies their culpability in original sin.
Glad to have cleared that up for everyone.
The granting of a pardon is an imputation of guilt, and the acceptance a confession of it.

It's going to be hard to argue that a baby is sinful, while also claiming that life is precious.

How does a myth about a torture murder make you a better person?
