Yeah, it looks pretty creepy.  I can see why people in the past thought it was some omen of evil, or the dooooom! Some changes in the moon are very minor, barely noticeable.  This is a big change.  Looks ominous (and totally cool!).  Wish we had a better view, but I'm happy we got to see it at all.

Can you see Mars trailing the moon?

Because of the roofline/treeline, no.  We're hoping to see it clearer soon.  Likely we won't see it in time, though.  We got a cool app that shows it in real time through the buildings and what have you, it's the best we can do.  

We live in a dense area of the city here, no way to see over the 5 story rooftops that surround us for miles.  I feel lucky we glimpsed it through some trees earlier.

Took a couple of shots with the mobile with digital zoom. yep, grainy. Its an old S4. I will post them later.

I remember how hard we all tried to get photos during the solar eclipse not long ago. Was it last year? Anyhow, the best photos were of the multiple partial moon shadows on everything.

Nope, by the time the moon came over the roofline, it was only half eclipsed. The lighting around here is so bright we can't make out any stars or planets near the moon. Ah well.

Here in the UK we have had about 8 weeks of clear skys, the night of the eclipse - thunderstorms!
