Yet wages remain depressed.  You have a hard time connecting dots, I see.

Yes, no doubt this country will be even greater once all American workers have become rigid narrow minded drones and exported all the jobs requiring broad view and flexibility to China, India, the EU. Canada and Mexico.

No shit, Sherlock. That's why it's important to go into a field with high demand. My job isn't my passion (hence the time spent on this site), but I get a raise of 5 - 6% every year.

How important and valuable can your job be if even you can pass yourself off as being able to make a contribution?

No one understands us.  But at least now, after years and years and lots of cash, we have finally begun to understand ourselves.  Would you like to buy some insight?

I came out of med school with a debt of a little over $A40 k. I worked while studying, which helped.

Playing Cluedo with my mum while I was at Uni:

I think you might be thinking of the fries.  Completely different, but also covered by my major.

No, I connect dots differently than you do.

You connect dots as if an individual's fate is mostly determined by powers outside his control.

I connect dots as if an individual mostly controls his own fate. From my view, although real wages may not be growing, a particular individual can experience greater success than his peers by making smart choices.

Which jobs are those?

Better to be a drone making a good buck than an unemployed or underemployed journalism major.

I wonder that myself sometimes, but I keep getting raises and could change employers any time I like. Go figure.
