The fire jumped the Honoapiilani Hwy at Dickerson St and is headed for the Aloha Gas Station. All this wind and no rain! It's out of control! We are now cut off!
Weird: the winds just died? It's 9:00am here.

It's 11:30 and the winds are picking up again but light. Earlier the winds were strong enough to uproot a Kiawe tree in the beach park across the street which is now closed. But 2 1/2 hours of dead calm was weird when I know that this storm is heading right for me at 2 miles p/h!
I've been cut off from town but with this powerful slow moving storm, Maalaea could reach 20ft! I've seen her at 10ft but... Maalaea is world famous as the "worlds fastest surfable wave". I wonder how many surfers with means, from all over the world, have come here for this event?
Waikiki is going to be HUGE! There is only one legend of a surfer who rode such a wave and I believe it was The Duke himself.
They just reopened the road but the swell will soon close it down. It's time to run north but I'm staying put.

I'm sure someone knows what the fuck happened. But as of 9am nothing has happened here. My brother called me a few hours ago and said, "The storm went south and around you and you are spared". Apparently he was right. It's now after 5pm and it's all good. The entire island of Maui is now on party mode. Glad I stocked up. We all have a four day weekend and are going to play!

Plane ticket prices to get off Hawaii were over $10k per ticket on the last day people could realistically escape the hurricane's effects. Gotta love capitalism.

Hawaiian Airlines offered every tourist an early out without gouging. However, many of the mom and pops stayed open and gouged the living shit out of people!
