Pretty sure even wikipedia's webpage said that most people interpreted the "end" of the calendar in the wrong fashion (I'm too lazy to go look at it again) but most of the Christians I've heard actually denounce the whole idea because it doesn't fit in with their prophecy.

However, a couple years ago when it was a hot button topic and a guy I was nosing around was looking into it all, I used it as an excuse to get my foot in the door. "[sigh] well...I guess I just have to jump your bones before then...." Okay, so not much of an excuse, and he wasn't fooled, but it broke the ice and now the door is always open.

If I am to discover the end of the world is happening, that would be the most exhilarating and momentous discovery I or anyone could possibly make. I look forward to making it. My wifes just started buying books from amazon about 'a conciousnesss shift' in 2012.
I googled it and couldnt believe the rubbish I found, I asked her 'is this what you are reading about?' whereby she just said exclaimed that I 'wouldnt understand because I dont believe in spirit'

I have a bet going with a buddy of mine. He says that something catastrophic will happen in 2012, probably a massive solar flare, certainly not the end of the world, but something world-shattering. We have $100 riding on it, he realises of course that if he wins, the money will be of little value.
