I'm utterly shocked that a medical professional would use such offensive language!

Shocked and stunned!!

Holy fucking shit!

Not a medical doctor, alas; I just spent way too much time hanging around colleges.

Was an EE for a while, and we curse like sailors when we're drunk, and engineers drink like fish.

Can I employ obscene Lovecraftian geometries, instead?

Or will that lead me beyond time and space?

I worked making and testing spacecraft antennas for about 10 years. Most of the EE guys and gals I worked with were Asian. Those people wouldn't know how to take the cap off a bottle of liquor. That's not to say there weren't a few party animals, but most were pretty tucked in at the corners.

Mine is a Carolina girl twang.  As soon as people hear the grits flying, in their minds my IQ drops several dozen points.  I was born in South Carolina, raised in North Carolina, have a B.A. from a respected (and expensive) private college and have a respectable IQ.  Graduated cum laude and was a member of Phi Theta Kappa, Kappa Nu Sigma, Psi Chi and Delta Psi Omega.  I was the department's official tutor for one of the two most difficult psychology courses.  But the accent is never going away, so I suspect I will always be viewed as "less than."

Of course all that pales by comparison to how much my value as a human being (in the bible-belt) dropped in the minds of the people in Tinytown upon revealing my atheism.
Where are we going and why am I in this hand basket?

Well I for one, look forward to hearing your accent tag. We vacationed at OBX towards the end of July. My second time there. I love visiting that place.

Oh, the OBX brogue of the natives is quite different from the drawl of the inland people.

I have family in both areas.  There's a wide range of NC accents.

I have a fairly innocuous Aussie accent. Not the type from Kath and Kim (which you probably dudn't get in the 'States). Mine's more of the Aussie stereotype.

It gets noticed and commented on by the Kiwis around me...
