If you want to know where a problem starts follow the money. This is more about protecting the team investment. But that is a different subject.
I am not talking about that in this thread. I am talking about linemen on offense and defense grabbing a fist full of jersey. The Washington/Green Bay game I saw inconsistent calls and non calls multiple times.
If you call holding on either team where a guy grabs a non ball holder say by the arm how why are you not calling them when they grab a jersey?
I do know that players will try to hide their holds but some of the non calls were blatantly obvious.

I don't get it. How is it part of the rules when you are not a ball holder or a guy going after a ball holder.
I know players always try to get away with breaking the rules and act and fake sure, but how is grabbing a jersey of a non ball holder/ runner acceptable?
I am not taking about the Redskins winning. I am talking about the flags thrown during the game AND the flags not thrown during the game.
If you are blocking you can grab a Jersey as long as your hands stay within his shoulder pads.

That makes no sense. How is grabbing a non ball carrier by the jersey any different than grabbing and holding an arm or leg? I am not arguing that it is legal as per current rules, but I don't see how that is different.

I think it's extra funny cause kicker and quarterback are the two positions most likely to be white guys, and there are special rules protecting them. Lol.

Probably has something to do with the recent discovery that football players are suffering major brain injuries.
I'm frankly amazed at the expectation of "business as usual" in the face of that. There are going to have to be major changes to the sport if it is to survive.
Survive what? Regulation by the government? I don't see that happening. So then there has to be declining ratings because the general football watching public is concerned about cte. Again, don't see that happening.

Survive declining interest, Cap'n. The decline has been going on for a decade.

Quote:By any measure in the National Federation of High School Associations' athletic participation survey -- the most comprehensive annual study of youth sports participation in the United States -- football is nearing a decade of decline. A few numbers from the 2017-18 NFHS survey, released in August (numbers are aggregated after they are reported by NFHS' state athletic association members that oversee high school sports):
- The number of 11-player football participants is down 6.5 percent from its peak in 2009-10 -- to 1,039,079 at 14,079 schools during the 2017-18 season from a top of 1,110,527 at 14,226 schools. The number of girls in 11-player football has nearly doubled during that time, but that's only to 2,237 players, not nearly enough to make up for 72,436 fewer boys.
I was astounded to read that schools in North Carolina were being forced to give up varsity football because not enough kids came out for the team. I always thought that football was even more important than religion in the south.

Southern parents aren’t complete morons. Faced with the undeniable fact that football can lead to brain damage, they knew that something had to go: football or the Baptist faith.
After all, there’s a limit to how much damage one is willing to inflict on one’s boys to shape them in one’s image and to live vicariously through them. Two activities that might render them blithering idiots as adults were one too many.

Because these guys are monsters and if you didn't allow offensive players to get a grip on them in some capacity your QB would be a pancake by the 2nd quarter. And I'm sorry I meant to say "as long as your hands stay within your shoulder pads", meaning your not reaching out and grabbing.

As a fan of football, and ABBA, even I cant argue with this.

I have seen plenty of good protection of a QB without grabbing a jersey.
A better argument would be to allow the other types of holds of arms and legs if stopping speed is the case. Otherwise why call one and not the other because they both have the same affect, slowing down progress.
Again, I am not arguing current rules, just that I don't see a difference. Ultimately I don't care, I am not a player or an owner. I am simply arguing the semantics and logic.
All I know right now is that the Skins suck huge donkey balls.
