Vegans & meat grown in a lab

It's an interesting thing to ponder. "Do insects feel pain?"

There is no way to know with certainty, but entomologists suspect that they might not. How did they come to this conclusion? Well, one way of gauging pain and suffering is to observe stimulus response. They conducted experiments where insects' legs were injured to see if the insect stopped using that particular appendage. With animals, when a particular leg is injured, the animal will stop using that particular appendage because using it results in pain. No such behavior was observed in insects.

Of course, there is no way we can conclude anything 100%. Maybe the insects are suffering tremendously but lack the necessary physiology to stop using the affected leg. But if insects do not feel pain or experience suffering, it would (in the view of some) be ethically permissible to harvest and eat them.

Uh, I think the term for that is "roadkill."

Sausages are grilled on the Peterbilt. Do try to keep it straight. Tongue

My brother is a highly toned, strong vegan. I don’t know what he would taste like.

How are you around the ribs? Bacon?

Stodgy. My arse is pretty firm though.

RE: Vegans & meat grown in a lab
Perhaps growing meat in lab is too much, rather it would be enough if they grew proteins in the lab, like whey, because then you could either eat it directly or use it as raw material and make meat like foods from it. Because what is meat if not proteins + fat (with some small amour of minerals)?

So make lab milk > whey > proteins.
teachings of the Bible are so muddled and self-contradictory that it was possible for Christians to happily burn heretics alive for five long centuries. It was even possible for the most venerated patriarchs of the Church, like St. Augustine and St. Thomas Aquinas, to conclude that heretics should be tortured (Augustine) or killed outright (Aquinas). Martin Luther and John Calvin advocated the wholesale murder of heretics, apostates, Jews, and witches. - Sam Harris, "Letter To A Christian Nation"
