The Convoy

Idea doesn't work when you are desperate. FYI entering illegally isn't treated like a violent felony, it is treated more like a jaywalking.

Humans don't like to be uprooted, but when under stress we migrate. That isn't a matter of race or religion,or nationality, but evolution. If humans never moved when under stress, our species would have died out.

It is an oversimplification to say "wait in line". Truth is most do, and enter through established boarders. But even for the ones who cross a river or through the mountains, which is far more dangerous, even most of them are not violent.

It isn't a matter of never turn someone away, but what are we doing when we send them back? Especially with kids.

If we send them back, what are we sending them back to? It is easy to say "don't let illegals in", but put yourself in their shoes. If you are starving, or fleeing violence you are going to get to a point of being so stress the risk of not getting in will outweigh staying in those horrible conditions of which you have fled. And for the parents here who support the orange Turd's policies, do not tell me you wouldn't do anything to protect your own children.

These are our fellow human beings, not space aliens like in the movie "Independence Day".

All I am asking is for to help the non violent individuals, yes, kick the violent ones out, but if we have to deport non violent people , what are we sending them back to? I just don't want to see my country backslide in to the prior days of bigotry, where we did the same horrible things to Chinese, Japanese, Italians and Irish and even at one point, turned back a boat full of Jews.

But whatever we do, I am fucking tired of the right selling their bigoted bullshit. It is never illegal to be a human being.

RE: The Convoy
Step 1: Take a poll of all citizens. One question:
"If you were in a war torn country, would you flee with your family to the United States?"

Step 2:
Deport everyone who said "No" to make room for the refugees. Send the deported ones to the war-torn country and let them take care of it since obviously, they know how. Also, they can't really love it in the US if they wouldn't flee here if their family was in danger. And we don't have to worry about them coming back because they already said they wouldn't.
"Tradition" is just a word people use to make themselves feel better about being an asshole.

Punishing people for fleeing from an awful place is bullshit

Crap. So do I have to be nice to anyone who left the White House because they figured out what a shithole it has become?

RE: The Convoy
The Republicans are trying to lay immigration problems at the foot of the Democrats, yet Republicans have controlled both congress and the white house for two years and they haven't done dick about it except talk -- talk, not vote -- about a border wall and revoke DACA. Illegal immigration is at an all time high under Trump and the crisis at the border is one of the Republicans' and Trump's own making. As director of the Women's Refugee Commission said, "This is a reflection of what happens when you undermine orderly access to asylum.” So now Republicans are trying to blame Democrats for their ineffectiveness and lack of unity. Republicans are nothing but shameless liars and hypocrites.

Quote:President Trump on Monday sharply intensified a Republican campaign to frame the midterm elections as a battle over immigration and race, issuing a dark and factually baseless warning that “unknown Middle Easterners” were marching toward the American border with Mexico ... Mr. Trump suggested without any proof that the opposition was involved in instigating the caravan. “I think the Democrats had something to do with it,” he said.

Most pervasive have been broad and largely false claims that Democrats support an “open borders” immigration policy that would lead to a vast influx of violent crime. Republicans have deployed that charge in countless elections, and are now linking mainstream Democrats who support immigration reforms to far-left activists who favor abolishing the Immigration and Customs Enforcement agency. Republicans are also accusing Democrats, without evidence, of going soft on MS-13, a Latin American gang that Mr. Trump regularly depicts as a national menace.

While opposition to illegal immigration runs strong, a poll published Sunday by NBC News and The Wall Street Journal found voters trusted Democrats slightly more than Republicans on the overall immigration issue.

The GOP has gone bat shit insane. Outside economics, if their voters would look at their history, both parties for the past 50 years have made adjustments to immigration laws and up until this time, none of it was based on sell of bigotry.

Reagan could only run on the Democrat ticket today with what he did with immigration laws.

RE: The Convoy
Let's hear it from the "law and order" nazis about what the law actually says.

https://www.uscis.gov/humanitarian/refug...lum/asylum

Quote:If you are eligible for asylum you may be permitted to remain in the United States. To apply for Asylum, file a Form I-589, Application for Asylum and for Withholding of Removal, within one year of your arrival to the United States. There is no fee to apply for asylum.

You may include your spouse and children who are in the United States on your application at the time you file or at any time until a final decision is made on your case.

One would think that the fucking president would either know the law or have advisors who did.  But we have never had a fucking president like the fucking moron we have now.
