This. I didn't even get married until I was in my 30's. When I moved in with my lady and her boys it was the first time in my life that I felt "at home".

I hate getting old sure, but cant do shit about it regardless. So I just deal with it, be as happy as I can and enjoy my time.

Im 50. When i turned 30 i thought i was getting old, remembering the decade that just passed (my 20s). Now 20 years later, i just smile about those times.

My take on life (male, central european):
20s is the "high life". You are in posession of fully physical strenght, experienced enough to know stuff, not experienced enough to be disappointed/cynical about life and people.

30s: You notice its going downwards from now. Peak of physical strenght is gone (more hangover after parties, need a break in between parties), university is passed, you are in the middle of tedious, seemingly endless working life..

40s: Fuck, im getting old. There is some stuff i cant do anymore at all (unlike when i was in my 20s). You notice that maybe moe years have gone by since birth, than you have left.

50: OMG, SOMEBODY SHOOT ME. I gonna die, im getting fat old and (always was) stupid.


On a sidenote: this weekend i finished a book about the Burma campaign in WWII 1942-1945. I am born in 1968, and there is less time between WWII and my birth than between my times at university (early to mid 90s) and now! A co-worker just told me as well, that now more years have gone after the fall of the Berlin wall (1989-2018), than the Berlin wall existed at all (1961-1989/91). Time is a strange thing.
