Not cool bro... Religion has the monopoly on divisiveness...

Compared to whom? Christians and Muslims and Jews wear their religious garb in public on a daily basis. Now while I wouldn't recommend the OP's suggestion, just seeing the word "atheist" on anything, for a theists can get many to respond negatively to you.

I had one guy try to have me fired from my job for seeing an atheist bumper sticker on my car. No cussing, nothing, just a website address. I had another guy yell at me "WHY DON'T YOU BELIEVE, WHY DON'T YOU BELIEVE" again, just for seeing that word, and nothing more.

So it is ok for theists to wear crosses, hijabs, Yamakas in public, but merely seeing the word "atheist" on a hat or shirt is evil?

You'll probably get remarks about how Despise should begin with a lower case d.

Or that "and" Should begin with an upper case "A"

ETa: fuck that, DESPISE

I didn't get arrested in the mid-'70s for wearing a denim jacket in town with a patch in the shape of the "Ford" oval, with the word "Fuck" on it, in the "Ford" script. Did get the odd look or two. Angel

Very well, wear it. Wear it with pride. And if anyone objects, calmly and rationally explain to them the niceties of divisiveness. Go into detail about the shades of meaning in your slogan, and how it applies to a belief system, but that you can still respect individuals as people.

But it might be a little difficult delivering that lecture while your teeth are being kicked down  your throat.

Used to live in Belfast. It was a typical way to amuse yourself during bank holidays.

It’s entirely possible that you could wear the shirt with no negative consequences, but I wouldn’t bet on it.

I really don't like the idea of getting involuntarily dentally modified or arrested, so have modified the proposed statement to "I DESPISE Religion" - may be better anyway, and in fact not appeasement methinks.

This image is extant on clothing already, and the revised slogan is right next door methinks.

*shrug*  As I said, you might be fine.  I personally wouldn't wear such a shirt, it seems to be needlessly poking the badger.  Like a mate of mine who got a medium-sized set of lumps when his 'Hammers Forever' tattoo was spotted in a pub in Bermondsey.

Your emoji perfectly captures the Belfast mindset.
