I'm not overly keen on tea either. I'll drink it if there's nothing else Smile

RE: How Americans view the British
I haven't been to Britain since the 1980's. I visited London twice while I was stationed in Germany.

Back then it was a decent place to visit and you didn't have to stay on the tour to have a good time. I'm not sure that's true anymore outside of the more popular areas. I hope it is, but what little international news I see in my daily news feeds doesn't compel me to want to visit again now. Even so, I have to wonder if the news we get from Britain here is even remotely accurate. Just last spring there were reports of a fairly dramatic rise in knife violence in England and Wales. By October The Independent, which many people seem to think is not a great newspaper, was reporting the situation as record assault/sexual assault levels.

I'm sure it's fine if you know the local customs and places to avoid. That's pretty much true everywhere though, isn't it? If I were to visit today, I'd still go off the tour, but I wouldn't recommend it to most people based on news reports. I'd be very anxious if my children did...

All in all Britain is a pretty safe place to visit. There has been an upturn in knife crime in London for some reason? I don't think it's a major problem elsewhere in the country though.

If I was recommending a visit, I would say avoid the big cities, and the further north you go(in England at least) the friendlier it gets.

I'd take a Brit over a Yank as a housemate any day.
That being said, I'd take a Scot or an Irishman over a Pom any day. :-)

None of that was sexual.

Say what you will about Theresa May, at least she probably knows what she's doing (at least to a small extent; Brexit is proving to be an utter clusterfuck that nobody will be able to get right.)

And when groups of white supremacists start to rise, they have the best reaction:

Fair point.  I'll rephrase:

Americans, as a rule, tend to view other nationalities as inferior.  While this is not true of all Americans, it is a view routinely depicted in US foreign policy and reinforced by my (admittedly limited) personal experience with Americans.
