Fair enough. But my point was, that a perfect being wouldn't need anything, so if you accept that god does anything, you can't really discriminate, what methods he uses.

Yes, I'm aware. It's also worth noting, that end of times predictions and survivalist prepping are also much more common and popular among Americans, than in most of the rest of the world. So there seems to be a correlation between certain religious teachings and nutty behavior. Whether there's causality, that's difficult to tell - perhaps certain kinds of christianity attract wackos more than others and maybe US has more mentally ill people than many other countries (which wouldn't be surprising, considering american attitudes towards mental healthcare and education), but I don't know how you can just attribute it to individual choices.

One possible local doomsday scenario that is worrisome is a super solar flare. The average time between these is just a matter of a few hundred years. If something like the Carrington Event of 1859 hit the US today, we would be crippled.

That's one of the more likely massive loss of life scenarios.  I don't know if it would start a lasting apocalypse though.  Preppers might not look so crazy after that one.

I can live without beer as long as there are no guns.

Beer and guns regardless are a horrible mix.

Humans love the theater, so they also love to paint events to make them attractive to the eye;apocalypse is one of those things.
People "wish" that apocalypse "would be like Lord Of The Rings" or be a "conflict between horsemen".

But reality is that apocalypse happen to each and every human at death: your own apocalypse is the moment of your death, it's not like death would matter a lot if it was due to a horseman's anger or a nuclear explosion. Death is death, and it will come to all.

Just like God was not visible to us all the time we were alive, he won't be visible to us before we die. We will die without seeing him, just like we lived without seeing him. No magical dreams too.

But leave the wishes aside; Brian: we will mostly burn earth and all of humanity in a nuclear war. A boring; full of death traditional war that is a continuation of WW2.

Gun companies sell their weapons through lots of propaganda techniques; one of their best customers are religious fanatics who love the theater.

I think there's a fair-to-middling chance it could be EXACTLY because of one of those.

Boru

I don't think reality agrees with you. The most destructive wars in history -by far- were carried out by non theists, worse yet the most vicious, well-armed, experienced and bloodthirsty are non theists, look at the top military powers in the world, and look for nuclear states to validate my claim.

The worst country to face is a non theist country, because that is the nation that considers nuclear holocaust and tactical bombing a "valid, justifiable mean of self-defense".
