I bought a new freezer - and filled it.

Why the hell else would you hunt??

It' s just grocery shopping - with guns.

True enough.  I often stalk the wily potato with a blunderbuss.

Yup. They also make a similar setup for 1911s - preplacing the upper and magazine.

I never been a fan of such things. They really took a hit on these units when 22 LR became all but unavailable.

Is kinda neat though. The multiple caliber thing is quite popular in countries where they limit ownership - or bringing firearms into the country - like South Africa. A guy brings in two rifles - and parts for 6 different calibers. Then he' s ready for everything from porcupine to rhino..

When did the 22 LR become unavailable? I just bought some about 6 months ago. Is there something I need to know? The 22 LR is my favorite. In the apocalypse, I want to have a lot of bullets. I always figured the 22 LR would be my go to ammo for that.

During the Obama administration - for a variety of reasons - but mainly due to blind panic buying - most ammo became scarce and expensive.
I sold off boxes of Federal 22 LR (550 count) that I had paid $9 for, for $40.
Guys at gun shows were gouging and charging $100 a box - AND GETTING IT!
.....
Prices are back to normal - adjusted for inflation. I am buying again - at $12 a box.

Thanks. I just did some research on the internet about it. Consumer demand has been crazy. I had no idea. I knew that gun sales have been up quite a bit, so I guess the ammo shortages are not a big surprise.

I owned one. It's scaled down somewhat. I've shot several of them - and they have amazingly good triggers, reasonable accuracy and good reliability. The only downsides - its a bit too heavy for concealed carry IMO, and its a single action semi- auto..

RE: Deer Stuff
I got a call from the gun shop - my .450 Bushmaster upper came in ,- so I went and picked it up.

I was pleasantly surprised - when Bushmaster says " complete" that' s what they mean. Many of these uppers do not come ready to mount - but need forestocks, bolt carriers and charging handles. This came with a nice aluminum round forestock - so the barrel is floated. All bolt parts were included. It even came with a 5 round magazine. ( necessary to hunt with). I simply pulled the mount pins and swapped uppers. A 30 second job.

It came flat topped with Weaver mounts - so mounting a scope was easy - a 2 minute job. Boresighted - and out to the range.

With my hand loads I used hunting last year - off a bipod - on the bench I shot three 3 shot groups at 100 yards - 1 inch groups.

I' m impressed. This sucker has real potential.
