Yonadav's Spaceship
#11
RE: Yonadav's Spaceship
The child is younger than you and therefore has a better chance of living longer, discovering another ship with a member of the opposite sex headed back to their fully functional world (functional but also without human life) where they can begin to repopulate it together. Hopefully others will land as well, introducing new dna so incest won't be a part of the picture.

In that scenario, perhaps it is you who who should enter the airlock. For the greater good of the species.

No offense meant---just playing the game here.
Where are we going and why am I in this hand basket?

There is no habitable space to be found anywhere, except for on my spaceship.
I was alone on my ship when the accident happened, so I am only person left alive in the universe.
I have an endless supply of food, water, air, and energy so my survival is not in danger.
However, I am getting a bit lonely, and I remember that I have one package of dehydrated living child that I just have to add water to.
I add water, and get an instant living child so that I can have some company.
It turns out that I really am a loner, and the presence of the child is seriously grating on my nerves.
The spaceship is mine. The air is mine. The water is mine. The food is mine. The energy is mine.
Deciding that since the child has no claim to any of the things that are mine, I ask the child to please step into the airlock.
What defense can be made on behalf of the child?

In a drastic situation like this, who knows?

I know (that if I were there instead of you) I wouldn't have the attitude you speak of. If I'm willing to let a child be alive again, I'm not going to then throw them out just because I changed my mind.

Why not just dehydrate the child again, put her back in a zip lock bag, and store her for potential future use? She obviously survived the process once already.

^ good idea! (If he's prepared to do what he suggested, then eating the kid one day for lulz isn't that much of a stretch)
Why throw out a perfectly good astro meal.

In the interest of waste not, want not, dehydrate the child and use her to flavor ramen.

Is dehydrated child a full person?
Or does she have the range and intelligence of seamonkeys?

Hmmm, does the soul evaporate with the water, or is it still embodied in the remaining dry crumbly stuff?

As with all totally fictional things in completely imaginary contexts, this is a weighty theological question, deserving of the most careful consideration by every mind that can not really be said to be capable of thinking.
