Yonadav's Spaceship
#41
RE: Yonadav's Spaceship
IDK, kids have this habit of trusting adults, even when they shouldn't.  The kid would probably say "okay, this is fun, what game are we playing?"

A little game called out the airlock it goes!
I am the Infantry. I am my country’s strength in war, her deterrent in peace. I am the heart of the fight… wherever, whenever. I carry America’s faith and honor against her enemies. I am the Queen of Battle. I am what my country expects me to be, the best trained Soldier in the world. In the race for victory, I am swift, determined, and courageous, armed with a fierce will to win. Never will I fail my country’s trust. Always I fight on…through the foe, to the objective, to triumph overall. If necessary, I will fight to my death. By my steadfast courage, I have won more than 200 years of freedom. I yield not to weakness, to hunger, to cowardice, to fatigue, to superior odds, For I am mentally tough, physically strong, and morally straight. I forsake not, my country, my mission, my comrades, my sacred duty. I am relentless. I am always there, now and forever. I AM THE INFANTRY! FOLLOW ME!

Is the child not understanding that she will die if she steps into the airlock part of the scenario? Because it's the difference between murder and strangely codependent suicide.

Well, idk if our courts would see it that way...but since our courts were destroyed along with the rest of the universe and anyone else who would be required to make a defence of the child so much as a conceptual possibility... it hardly matters.

We could modify the scenario..in the interest of playing pretend of the sort we're playing, and say that the unfreeze dried individual was an adult fully cognizent of the situation (and, coincidentally..capable of pushing back against yon in the spaceships desires). In which case the only "defense" likely to be offered would come from that individual..in the form of "fuck you..you're going out the airlock!" - pretty much your comments from before.

Honestly, there's no arguing with someone who wants to push you out of an airlock.

No doubt it's not a legalistic argument sans law, but something can still be considered a crime in the eyes of non-lawyers even if it's not illegal. It's an ethical dilemma. Is it okay to toss a kid off your lifeboat when you've got plenty of supplies, as long as you're so far out in the ocean that you're not under anyone's jurisdiction? I'd say no, even if the kid is annoying. You might not face any legal consequences, but I don't believe that being legal or illegal is what makes something right or wrong.

To the OP, clearly you should have thought of these potential consequences before you removed the freeze-dried kid from her package.

As a pro-birth analogy, this is pretty terrible: The freeze dried kid is more analogous to a fetus, and the child is not only already born, she's a walking and presumably talking person. If you didn't want a kid around, you should have tossed her out of the airlock while she was still in the box, before she had a chance to live (again?). After you've delivered the baby it's a little late for buyer's remorse.

If only there were some place or institution that a person could pawn off unwanted children to, right?  Too bad they all got destroyed with the rest of the universe, I guess.

I didn't realise that it was supposed to be a pro-birth analogy.

It's not a pro-birth analogy. I support Roe v Wade.

Then what is it supposed to be an analogy for? If it's not an analogy for anything at all, then it has no relation to reality and you shouldn't have wasted our time with it without some kind of disclaimer...and that probably would have made this a two-page thread.

You must really like being bullshitted, MA, to ask that question, lol.

So you're an idiot who can't participate in thought experiments without knowing what the objective of the experiment is? Boy are you dumb.
