Home Elevator
|
About a month ago I contacted National Lifts to arrange for a site visit and a quote. After weeks of waiting for a reply I received an Email telling me that they have too big a workload to take on a job in my area. I then contacted two of their affiliates, one in Hartford and one in Albany with no results. This evening I will send an Email to Residential Elevators of Massachusetts. They carry the make and model of the home elevator I'm looking for. I hope I get some results soon. I'm getting tired of shopping around and expected the project to be, at the least, scheduled by now.

Imagine a Segway with 6 wheels....
The wheels would be on a Y shaped yoke - 120 degree spaced - with a wheel on the end of each arm of the Y. The Y would have a rotary axis - on the convergence of the three arm. This would allow the Segway to climb stairs. The wheels would draw the unit inwards to the riser of the stairs - then the yoke would rotate - lifting the unit to the next step. It would use torque sensing to initiate the climb - and descent of the unit up and down the stairs .. The gyro system would keep the whole thing on level.
It's a goofy name, but this wheelchair climbs stairs. Don't know about cost. Audio is annoying, though.

Should we merge these elevator threads?

This thread has utility. The other offers nothing.

At long last, I've finally discovered why I was getting few or no replies from local elevator companies in regard to having a pneumatic elevator installed in my home. This type of elevator has not yet been approved for use by the present building codes in Massachusetts.
I'm now investigating different types of stairway lifts and shaftless elevators.
