[Serious] When God isn't the answer to the question, then what is?

My question is;  how do you, as an atheist, answer these questions?

How is it you live fine without assuming Thor is the cause of lightening?

How is it you live fine without believing in Apollo?

What should be so frightening to you if you realized there is no afterlife or sky hero? Were you frightened of your pre life when you did not exist 4 billion years ago?

I answer reality, as a natural, not a super natural process. I also don't insert a cockroach god in to explain why cockroaches exist.

Cognition in evolutionary biology is an emergent property, not a super natural starting point.

I am fine knowing I am a mere temporary blip in a 13.8 billion year old universe. I am fine knowing the universe does not care about me. I still value the time I have here and now while I am alive. I simply do not assign any of this to old mythology or to the super natural.

Life is explained by evolution. The universe is explained by astrophysics, cosmic microwave background radiation, and even quantum physics.

Life and the universe have lots of awesome things and beautiful things in it to ponder and study. But it also is very hostile and violent too. I still value the good and beauty in it. I simply do not assign any of it to magic.

Well..that fell apart awfully fast, didn't it?  We've gone from the meaning of life to whether or not somebody likes fermented dairy.
I am the Infantry. I am my country’s strength in war, her deterrent in peace. I am the heart of the fight… wherever, whenever. I carry America’s faith and honor against her enemies. I am the Queen of Battle. I am what my country expects me to be, the best trained Soldier in the world. In the race for victory, I am swift, determined, and courageous, armed with a fierce will to win. Never will I fail my country’s trust. Always I fight on…through the foe, to the objective, to triumph overall. If necessary, I will fight to my death. By my steadfast courage, I have won more than 200 years of freedom. I yield not to weakness, to hunger, to cowardice, to fatigue, to superior odds, For I am mentally tough, physically strong, and morally straight. I forsake not, my country, my mission, my comrades, my sacred duty. I am relentless. I am always there, now and forever. I AM THE INFANTRY! FOLLOW ME!

THE HUMANIST TEN COMMANDMENTS

1) Thou shalt strive to promote the greater good of humanity before all selfish desires.

2) Thou shalt be curious, for asking questions is the only way to find answers.

3) Harm to your fellow human is harm to humanity. Therefore, thou shalt not kill, rape, rob, or otherwise victimize anyone.

4) Thou shall treat all humans as equals, regardless of race, gender, age, creed, identity, orientation, physical ability, or status.

5) Thou shalt use reason as your guide. Science, knowledge, observation, and rational analysis are the best ways to determine any course of action.

6) Thou shalt not force your beliefs onto others, nor insist that yours be the only and correct way to live happily.

7) If thou dost govern, thou shalt govern with reason, not with superstition. Religion should have no place in any government which represents all people and beliefs.

8) Thou shalt act for the betterment of your fellow humans, and be, whenever possible, altruistic in your deeds.

9) Thou shalt be good to the Earth and its bounties, for without it, humankind is lost.

10) Thou shalt impart thy knowledge and wisdom gained in your lifetime to the next generation, so that with each passing century, humanity will grow wiser and more humane.
"The world is my country; all of humanity are my brethren; and to do good deeds is my religion." (Thomas Paine)

My question is;  how do you, as an atheist, answer these questions?

You are asking the wrong questions.

How about these ones:

1)  What is real?
2)  How can knowing what is real help me survive and enjoy my life?
3)  What's on TV?

I see.

Just don't fight over the remote control.

Fruits. Good ones, bad ones; all around.

We can't always be anti-theist.

You too, man.  I look forward to hearing your takeaway from the answers to the questions you asked whenever you make it back round.
