RE: The "Prophet Jesus": An Epic Failure?

OK, I've never been a Christian but the idea I've always gotten from their proselytizing material is that we need Jesus to get to God. Without Jesus' sacrifice on the cross, there would be no redemption. We further need to pray to Jesus to receive that gift of salvation.
This view is usually backed up with the quote from the Wholly Babble "No one comes to the Father but by me" (John 14:6).

Again, this is assuming that Jesus is separate from God. Christians don't hold this to be true.

Jesus is separate and yet the same being. Three separate persons in one God being.

As I understand it, Catholics like to say "distinct" rather than "separate."
Distinct as the positive pole of the magnet is distinct from the negative pole. (Analogously speaking)
But not separate in that they exist independently or could operate apart from the other.
Granted, this is getting into some pretty hair-splitting language.

They do blaspheme who say: "Allah is Christ the son of Mary." But said Christ: "O Children of Israel! worship Allah, my Lord and your Lord." Whoever joins other gods with Allah,- Allah will forbid him the garden, and the Fire will be his abode. There will for the wrong-doers be no one to help. 5:72
Jesus saith unto her, Touch me not; for I am not yet ascended to my Father: but go to my brethren, and say unto them, I ascend unto my Father, and your Father; and to my God, and your God. John 20:17

He is the one intercessor with the Father on behalf of all men, especially sinners.112 He is "able for all time to save those who draw near to God through him, since he always lives to make intercession for them."113 The Holy Spirit "himself intercedes for us . . . and intercedes for the saints according to the will of God."114

It's nothing even remotely to do with the nature of the trinity or some argument about god and jesus being seperate. It's just what magic book says, what catholics believe and why they may pray to christ (or any number of others), and the function of the character in comparative mythology.
