The circumcision of Jesus is an event from the life of Jesus, according to the Gospel of Luke, which states in verse 2:21 that Jesus was circumcised eight days after his birth (traditionally January 1). This is in keeping with the Jewish law which holds that males should be circumcised eight days after birth during a Brit milah ceremony, at which they are also given their name. 1. If Jesus existed he was Jewish, so of course he would have been circumcised as a baby. 
2. The canonical gospels are anonymous hearsay, no one knows who wrote them
3. The earliest gospel myth dates to 60 to 70 years after the the events they purport to describe. 
4. They are second hand hearsay, at best. 
5. The names were assigned arbitrarily over 2 centuries later, by early Christian leaders. 
6. Those early church leaders, favoured gospels that championed the divinity of Jesus.
