Now, if you’re interested in discussing the actual science, that would be a conversation worth having.
“Transgendered people are choosing what gender they want to be” = scientifically incorrect.
You. Are. Demonstrably. Wrong.
Suck it up, buttercup. 😏

Shouldn't a person have the right to self identify what race they belong to?
And those of you - who this question angers (there will be several) - explain rationally why there is a difference.
I think this implies a trans person has a higher degree of choice in gender identity than they actually do. There are problems with the comparison with race, but I know we have trans members so maybe they should be the ones to respond before I do.
While it seems that sexuality is not a choice, whether to choose between representing yourself as a female or male is.
I agree that a male maybe turned female or vice versa in the womb, but that doesn't completely purge the initial gender.
Many people are born with aspects of both genders in the brain, especially transgender people.
I believe that gender fluidity is a result of people wondering why they should have to make a choice and why can't they just be themselves, male and female in different circumstances.
Anyway, Onlinebiker, if you read the science behind it you should be able to realise that the skin colour thing is not analogous to gender identification. (I thought it was a good analogy at first, too.)
Also, skin colour does not identify race.

Don’t bother you guys. He’s not interested in science or evidence; just riling feathers.

Yes - a trans person DOES " choose".
They, and they alone get to say who they are.
What you, I and society think - apparently means nothing.
Only the individual decides what the rest of society identifies them as.
If this is true - my ascertation that I am Native American should be equally valid.
Unless you have a logical reason otherwise.

Think so?
Bwahahaha....
....
Michigan DOES allow for someone to change their gender - legally.
However - no so for changing one's race.
Where is the outrage?
If it is illegal for your family to own a casino in Michigan, how to you explain the fact that the MGM Grand Casino is in Detroit? It is your contention that MGM are owned by Native American tribes?
I'm starting to agree with LFC - I don't think you're serious. You're trolling.

OLB isn't a troll. His views, questions, topics may not sit well with some but the tight little group that is determined to troll him at every turn have done a fine job painting him as a troll.
I can pretty much list who is going to jump on the 'argue with OLB bandwagon'. It's so predictable and trollish.

As long as you're not infringing on the rights of others, you can identify as an attack helicopter for all I care.
It's only when someone insists others should accept that which reality does not align with, that I have a problem with it, and try and force their "identity" upon me. But since this is unlikely to happen (how could some internal behavior affect me anyways?), sure, identify yourself any way you want; no skin off my back.
This might, at first glance, come off as contentious - but the science is in. Trans people have every right to transition or stay the way they are, if they so wish - it's none of my business if they want to change their bodies any way they like, and I expect the same in return. People have the right to their own bodies.

I don't think the OP gives two shits about gender fluidity. I think his issues are political.
That's fine... Talk about that aspect of it then. Not the science of biology.
The left sometimes goes a bit far with some issues ...
eg: a female converts to a male with the support of the leftists.
The left then call her a privileged white male!
Fuck the left up the arse with a broomstick.

Yeah, I'm not sure he is trolling either but there has been evidence presented and he seems to be ignoring it.
If someone feels a certain way, then that person is the only one who can verify the feeling.
We can't yet peer inside another's mind.
But we can tell if someone is Native American or not.
The similarity between the two is an illusion.
So, Onlinebiker, you can't credibly keep that story running.

The problem is, he offered an argument:
‘If transgendered people get to just choose whatever gender they want to be, then why can’t people choose what race they want to be?’
To which I responded with scientific evidence that strongly suggests gender identity forms in the brain at a young age, and is not a choice of whim or preference. This, if true, destroys his argument. But, instead of engaging with the information presented, he ignored it. That tells me he has no interest in an intellectually honest discussion on the subject, and just wants to wind people up.
Or, in other words: trolling.
