I am so confused by these threads.  I have no damn idea what's going on.

A former regular of ours who has a history of being pretty stable, a skeptic and an atheist has gone off the rails a bit. He's creating threads like this and not responding to them, so don't worry if you don't get it. He doesn't care.

The folks wanting to say that he's "turned into a fruitcake" are the people who don't find it worthwhile to discover why one of your friends is hurting and confused. Plenty of people want to pile on a hurting and confused person because that's what's easy to do (from a social perspective).

"Hurt the vulnerable person," may be the best summation of the herd mentality. And someone who seeks to think differently than you? What do you think of them?

Plenty of people hurt. That doesn’t force them to write passive aggressive shit and runs with vague references to alt right conspiracy nonsense.

I doubt that it’s easy for any of us who’ve interacted with him for so long to see this.

Or maybe if we supported him through this time when he is hurt and confused, he might make it through okay, and he might (in retrospect) see how the alt right is predatory. And he would then be able to help us better understand how the alt right operates by taking advantage of isolated people.

I don't mind Rob saying people in power are trying to control what we think. They always have and they always will.

I do mind Rob saying we are brainwashed because we don't agree with him on the specifics. I think that's where the pushback starts.

We crossed that bridge with rob awhile back. This is the result, lol.

His delusions are self protecting and aggressive. We’re not a mental health service or an asshole support network.

It’s not as if no one mentioned to rob, on the way down, that he was being taken for a ride by a bunch of predatory asswipes.....or that no one asked with real concern wtf was up....but beyond that, what are the boards qualified to do, and is it really anyone’s responsibility to mama bird his silly ass back to s place where he isn’t a flaming douche?
